The 2nd half of the season

Stolen from elsewhere but thought it was a good summary of what is ahead of us and potentially ahead of us in the 2nd half and business end of the season.

It is striking is just how much we are potentially denied the usage of Salah and Endo due to international shite - it really is totally ridiculous IMHO that this is case.

Anyway - the full breakdown of what hopefully will be a successful, and definitely intense 2nd half of the season.

We'll be in the mix for top 4, but we'll ultimately miss out due to a further lack of investment by our erstwhile owners.

The arse will wallop us in the FA.

Fulham will do us over 2 legs in the EFL.

Well get to the last 4 of the Europa but we'll lose to one of the teams who've dropped from the CL.

If Egypt and/or Japan get knocked out early, could we have the lads back for the Arsenal game?

Quarters take place on 2nd and 3rd of Feb....so not really if get that far as Arsenal is on 4th.

If they go out last 16 or in group then yeah.

Knowing our luck they'll play every possible game and extra time in all knockout games.

Sure that is what happened with Salah last time and maybe Mane too!

Hindsight. Its great innit?

4-1. That’s the score that we should have had against Arsenal. Vintage Mo get’s a hat trick in that game, assuming the handball gets a finger pointing to the spot.

The 0-0 against the Manure another sobering result.

Jota is needed. Badly. Particularly in view of Mo doing his usual disappearing act shortly.

Injuries, as always, will make or break us. I think if we can win the League Cup, that could give us great momentum. The key Cadre of players who know what it’s like to lift trophies in LFC colours, will help get us to where we want to be, but we’re getting thin on the ground.

I’m taking it one game at a time.

One game at a time is the best way to look at it, but also hoping for better luck on the injury front and stepping up a gear or two in the remaining half of the season.

The problem with this is that every season, for the last 5 or 6 at least,we get injuries galore and sometimes its even to the same players! And yet we carry on with said players and similar injury prone types are brought in and rinse and repeat. The whole model of transfers obviously involves a 'try it and see' with players bought in more favourable deals because of potential injury problems. It's not about luck as much as either a transfer policy aimed at perceived value or a training regime that fits a group of players perfectly and others not so. Its a gamble that sometimes pays off (dependent on your own view of success.)

Last time Mo came back from the AFCON he stunk the gaff out for a considerable period of time. Let's hope for some reverse polarity or something.

Not playing every minute of 3 group games then every minute of 4 games that go 120 mins would help this time.

I'd be going full strength tomorrow except Szoboszlai who looks dead on his feet. Then full strength vs Newcastle and making changes for Arsenal in the FA cup, i know we would likely go out but we wont have Mo or Endo for that anyway and rest the players for a semi final with Fulham before they can get a full rest after

Yeah. We have next to no other realistic options anyway due to our injuries.

Team more or less picks itself bar the odd one or two could argue about - namely one of the forward places and maybe one midfield spot.

We desperately need Jota and Macca as a minimum back really soon to be able to make some good changes.

Fuck knows what we are gonna do about the right forward position while Salah is away anyway or DM while Endo is gone if Macca remains out.

I wouldn't be resting anyone at Arsenal. We'll have one game in 13 days leading into it and no league game for 2 weeks after it. The team should be able to go there and play the first leg v Fulham. There's no way I want an under strength team getting pasted there.

Also, AFCON starts for Egypt 6 days after that game too. Is Mo definitely out for it?

Fifa rules stipulate that clubs must release players on 1 January for the Africa Cup of Nations, beginning in the Ivory Coast on 13 January, and the Asian Cup, which gets underway in Qatar a day earlier.

If recent history proves anything, it is that we are likely to sustain further injuries to some of our players. The problem is we don’t seem to have players who get a “niggly” injury, they’re out for several weeks or even months.

Klopp will say that a certain player is now training and is close, but we don’t then see them in the match day squad for ages, and I know other teams get injuries too, but we seem to have had this for several years!

Currently, Endo is on 4 yellows and Trent on 3 so it would be likely either or both could get a suspension in the near future too which won’t help.
It’s not going to take too much to place us in a precarious position, so although it might be asking for too much, I hope we’ve got one or two players lined up to bring in come January.

We’re likely going to need them to win anything this season.

VAR is killing the game - well how these useless PGMOL cunts choose to use it is anyway - and sucking the enjoyment out of the game.

BUT I am more intensely desperate for us to win this league in the face of the likes of Tierney et al and all the fucking whoppers who shout 'cry more' on twatter etc than ever.

Call it siege mentality or whatever but I really, really want us to show these cunts they can't have us over no matter how hard they try and it would be delicious to know how gutted every cry more posting, sign on singing, god save the king singing, poverty mocking fucking knobhead would be.

Get it won, reds - it would be so, so fucking glorious and so, so fucking sweet.

Fuck everybody who isn't us.
