The fact that Calvert-Lewin's red has been overturned after it was one of those where VAR have stuck their nose in and sent ref to screen and as usual the ref has agreed with VAR IMO says it all about the shambles the whole thing has become.

I doubt of course anything will be learned as a result or changed for the better

Is right

Looking at tackles on a screen slowed down and frame by frame is bollocks and will always make them look worse.

If a ref has seen a tackle in real time from close up and he hasn't acted or has given a yellow then for me that call is better than one made watching it slowed down and with freeze frame etc on a screen after being asked to look at it by someone in a portacabin watching on a scree

It's fucking ridiculous...problem is they rarely if ever stick with their original calls after their mates in the portacabin get them to go the screen.

Shambles.

He speaks in this slightly breathless tone that hints at great excitement, but everything he says is dull as fuck.

Indeed . It’s the whole tone of his delivery. The faux seriousness of everything he says in his annoying stacato style . When you realise what he is saying is just the blindingly obvious you wonder why the fuck is he interrupting the game to share this drivel

It wasn’t a red and you could argue the right decision was to rescind it however what it has done is lay bare the myth that VAR is there to assist the ref .

Having gone to monitor he should have seen what everyone else did and stuck with his original call . Instead he bottled it and deferred to the cunts upstairs.

There can be little argument who is now running the game .

Even simple IT system implementations in small/medium size orgs go through scoping, pilots, user experience, success criteria, process improvements among many others.

The way VAR was thrown at the multi billion pound game without agreeing to any of those beggars belief. Referees have no clue on how to manage it because they were just thrown into it and make the were asked to make best judgement calls without limiting parameters. Naturally when a mistake is made, they look to overcompensate the following week and then try to go back to basics the next. Its a constant vicious circle that they are not able to get out of. If the cunts are not out to screw us, I will be feeling sorry for them. Almost.

Something like VAR has to be implemented by a process consultancy but what we see is Howard fucking Webb trying his absolute best to screw it in every way possible, with his entourage following his orders. With cunts like Dermot Gallagher clapping from the sidelines.

Its a fucking farce and will stay that way until they give the responsibility of VAR to refs from other countries at least for sometime to remove the bias and just plain stupidity from English refs. .

Think you're all underestimating the "Power of the Ev" here.

They make an official statement and 'shazam!' Red card goes away.

I wouldn't want someone like France's Clement 'Dick' Turpin anywhere near VAR for our games.

Dyche is right when he questions the point of sending the ref to the screen, as it always (with very few exceptions) results in the ref going with the VAR's point of view.

We don't have another game to look forward to for a million billion years but at least there's Man U vs Tottenham tonight.

Should be good for a few laughs.

The Mancs are away against Spurs on Sunday after The shite play Villa at home

Promoted teams are so shite they can't even beat each other.

Must be the worst 3 to come up for many a year - absolute dogshite.

I think it's partly because the other Premier League teams are starting to really pull away from what you'd call football league teams though. It's interesting that all three relegated clubs are in the top four of the Championship, so you could see a complete swap back to where we were at the start of the 22/23 season.

I think the financial gulf between Premier League  and the Football league is becoming so big that it's going to be very difficult for clubs that haven't been in the Premier League recently to either get in or stay in if they do go up.

Take Ipswich for example. If they do manage to win promotion this season they have next to no chance of staying up.

Fucking awful disease.  Hope he doesn't suffer.
Made watching England quite palatable for the years he was in charge.

Quickly moved on from the suggestion that England 1966 might have been his dream job.
