One thing you have to give to Trump, he created an enduring brand (or was lucky enough to chance upon the right combination) with equally stubborn and stable grass roots support, none of the other recent popular favourites on either side don't seem to come close, even Sanders. AOC and the likes are too narrow in appeal so far, Palin didn't last.

 

Maybe it's the power of celebrity. It is really bizarre to me how easily a joke candidate can now transform into a proper political force. Bolsonaro also started as a joke. Even Zelensky was a comedian who first played the president on TV. Johnson and his buffoonery. This guy now in Argentina must have also started as a joke.

If you had a civil war in the states and a Trump faction, I suspect it would lose quite quickly. Much like Johnson couldn't handle the pandemic and Truss couldn't handle the economy, sometimes being brain dead means words can't translate to effective actions.

 

I read an article a couple of years ago about somewhere in california which had gone full maga and it was falling to bits. I think they'd lost two health chiefs in a few weeks because of the anti vax stuff and the head of schools had been chased out with pitchforks because of books with gays in or some shit.

 

If anything, these people are only able to get away with their yap and steal a career because ordinary folk prop the place up for them to continually shit on it.
