Leonardo DiCaprio by a landslide. Bale is a deadful actor imo, his best ever performance coming in Empire Of The Sun when he was only a kid and he's regressed since then. Not forgetting his arrogant and embarrassing hissy fit.

Al Pacino. Love them both but by the finest of margins it's Pacino. Over time I feel as though he was better than Pacino when playing those softer roles and moments.

Laurence Fishburne. I like them both  but feel that Fishburne has a gravitas lacking by Whittaker.

Matt Damon by a margin.

Jason Statham easily. Has charisma, The Rock has steroids and nowt else.

Kevin Bacon. Not a fan of either but based on the films they've been in I've preferred Bacon's stuff.

Matthew McConaughey. I really Harrelson but agaain it's not close.

Samuel L Jackson easily. I think that the grinning egomaniac Washigton is one of the most overrated actors I've ever seen.

Brad Pitt. Really like them both but Pitt's filmography is better.

Anthony Hopkins. Can't stand either tbh. I think Douglass is fucking shit and Hopkins is way overrated, not to mention a traitor and I believe he should be hanged when he returns to the UK.

Tom Hanks. Again I think although Hanks is overrated and a bit of a luvvie, at least he's not that gurning, grinning, shit dwarf. The only film where I ever liked Cruise was Collateral, where he's cast firmly against type. He was shite in the awful Top Gun, shite in the horrendous A Few Good Men, and ust picking up the paycheque in the MI shitfests. He's also a scientology maniac and is 5 foot and stands on a box.

Leonardo DiCaprio/Christian Bale - I like both but DiCaprio has more facets to his game and is able to pull off any type of role

Al Pacino/ Robert DeNiro - Got to be DeNiro if judged on earlier stuff, Pacino is a bit 'shouty' but a great actor none the less.

Forest Whitaker/Laurence Fishburne - Whitaker has played some great roles particularly his performance in The Shield but Fishburne has more charisma and engaging to watch in a multitude of different roles.

Matt Damon/Mark Wahlberg - Got to be Marky Mark, Damon's a bit dull.

Jason Statham/Dwayne Johnson - Statham, good action star that's also capable of solid humour.

Kevin Bacon/Ethan Hawke - Hawke, for training day alone.

Woody Harrelson/Mathew McConaughey - I honestly can't choose, love them both.

Denzil Washington/Samuel L Jackson - Denzel, it's close but he has more charisma, and for training day which is the best performance I've ever seen.

Brad Pitt/Johnny Depp - Pitt just edges it. Discount Depps recent stuff.

Michael Douglas/Anthony Hopkins - Hopkins easily.

Tom Hanks/Tom Cruise - Hanks by far.

I would just like to state that Michael Douglas is exempt from criticism after the role he played in putting One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest together.

Leonardo DiCaprio/Christian Bale - Been one of the best out there since he came through, although reckon he's also the bigger bellend away from it all.

Al Pacino/ Robert DeNiro - The Scorsese films edge it, although in the midst of their respective drop-offs Any Given Sunday shines and brings it back to a close call.

Forest Whitaker/Laurence Fishburne - Ghost Dog is Ghost Dog

Matt Damon/Mark Wahlberg - not even close

Jason Statham/Dwayne Johnson

Kevin Bacon/Ethan Hawke - Linklater and Gattaca over Tremors

Woody Harrelson/Mathew McConaughey - all right, all right, all right

Denzil Washington/Samuel L Jackson - Denzil's a better actor, but Sam's a better film star.

Brad Pitt/Johnny Depp - Depp at his best is better, but he's his own cliché at this point.

Michael Douglas/Anthony Hopkins - Really like Douglas as well, but Wall Street and Falling Down can only go so far. Hopkins has a career that competes with Kirk, let alone Michael.

Tom Hanks/Tom Cruise

Some of those are close calls, but the chasm between Caine and Winston would dwarf the Grand Canyon.

He was good in Minder though.

Eastwood/Newman is a bit of an odd comparison, in my opinion.

This is true, was scratching my head trying to remember the name I wanted to put in there and never replaced it.

It was Ralph Fiennes.  Actually going to try and add another one now.

Di Caprio by a mile. American Psycho is a great film but its not like he has to act. Di Caprio is one of the best actors of his generation. Proper Premier League vs League 1 match-up this.

Pacino. Love both and both are arguably in the top 5 greatest of all time.

Whitaker. I love Fishburn and he is amazing in Boyz N The Hood but Whitaker as Idi Amin in last King of Scotland was/is one of the great performances.

Damon. Quite tough this as both are pretty similar. Damon shade it for the Bourne films.

Statham for Lock Stock. Neither can act.

Bacon. I don't like Ethan Hawke, not sure why. Oh and I prefer Bacon.

McConaughey. Again I like them both but McConaughy has the slightly better films.

Washington. Years ago I thought Samuel L Jackson was one of the best and no-one is as cool as Jules Winfield but he seems to have been in every other film in the last 30 years. He could never pull of Washington's performances in Flight or American Gangster.

I've picked Depp but I don't know why. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas maybe?

Hopkins. I like Douglas but its not even glenn close.

Hanks. One of the greatest ever.

True, wasn't really thinking of direct comparisons for many of these as much as stars that have been in the same kind of roles but might uncover different tastes.  Thought about Wayne, but didn't fancy it as it felt more like a Ford/Leone comparison for me.

For me it's Newman by a mile.
