mutual consent IMO, Rodgers & co. are feeding the press with their bullshit right now, but the decision was been made long time ago. All very much like in Kenny's case + there won't be another opportunity like this to hire a top class coach and there's already a massive gulf between LFC and CFC/arse/city/united. Can't wait more.

The fucking shite we get linked with.

Its a case of 'who is the best cheapest player we can get for each position who have high potential upside' rather than simply 'who is the best we can afford'. We are shopping in the bargain bin and we may well find an ace jeremy clarkson dvd that will cost £4 more than its worth even if it does kill an hour but we have our head in the bargain bin rummaging and thats my problem.

City are at harrords we are round the back rummaging getting chased off by security guards with a few bits of scrap metal hoping theres copper in driving round in a rusty escort van like a scruff scavenger, this great club, what next, will I find steven fry busking or stephen hawking huddled next to a dog under a blanket, eg how the mighty have fallen, spare us a danny ings sir? How about a copy of the big issue for james milner, we will only trade him in for more crack and cider, fuck it.

I don't watch other teams enough to really have an opinion on any of Ing, Milner, Benteke and Clyne.

But does this not seem like deja vu all over again, with players from mid-table clubs being linked, and half the folks on here less than enthused, and the other half like "They are solid players and can improve us"?

Which group has been proven correct most often, you think?

Well it's always best to say every signing is shite when it comes to us because we fail more often than not. There really isn't anyone worse in world football with money than we are, so if your hedging your bets you'd hedge them that way. But at the end of the day we can only sign a certain calibre of player and the ones we have been linked with are at the top end of that list (Ings excluded).

Either we go and buy complete unknowns and roll the dice that we'll get a potentially world class player we can sell to Madrid or Barcelona in a few years time when they start to rise to prominence. Non of this we'll get the pleasure of seeing though because after all the hard work and time developing them we'll allow a bigger club to reap all the rewards of our labour, or we actually try to build something here.

Keep seeing Trippier linked with a move away for as little as £4m/£5m. Isn't he quite good?

I'd just get Abate on a free. He's better than Clyne, and it would allow us to spend the whole budget on a striker and a holding midfielder.

Not sure that Abate is better than Clyne (or better than Clyne might come to be) but it's hard to argue that he's £12m better. Especially when that money could go elsewhere and the wages are likely to be pretty similar.

I hate all this shite about players fitting the system and proven premier league performers. Our PL performers are mostly average. Just buying fucking good players, if there is a good player in Katmandu, buy him. Good players will be good in any fucking league and play well in any bloody system. Its a round ball you kick around a pitch and try to put into the opposition's goal not fucking astrophysics.

I'd say so, four of those five players are top 4 players (Clyne, Milner, Benteke and Kovacic) you wouldn't bat an eyelid if one of the top 4 signed any of them. Barcelona wanted to sign Kovacic before the ban.

Clyne for me is the second best right back to Ivanovic this season, Rojo is shit and he's not a right back for a start. Azpilicueta might of been a right back starting out but he doesn't play there now. Coleman.. seriously? Everton where terrible all year and their defence was more porous than ours. Has Sagna even played this season? Zabaleta is good though, i'll give you that. Theres definitely an argument to be made that he's better, but i think just analysing them this season in isolation Clyne's had a better year.

Splitting hairs here hes had a better year but in my eyes he isnt a better player, no i dont rate coleman but this time last year coleman was the clyne of his time.

If there's truth to the Kovacevic rumours (I don't think there is yet) then where does he fit in? Milner, Kovacevic and Coutinho? Where does that leave the captain. Play Coutinho on the left and we end up with Milner, Henderson and Kovacevic, doesn't really cure our gaping midfield problem does it.

I can absolutely guarantee that we are not buying Kovacevic.

We pay 32 mill for benteke and everyone goes nuts. Get him for 25 and Ayre's hailed as a genius for getting the price down. We shouldn't even be looking at him.

Bacca, Lacazzette, Jackson martinez or Abeyemang.

The bird from Dr Who?

Well it's a risky strategy, but she's more suited to us than Benteke.

Nobody is linking us with that Konoplyanka guy, wasn't the consensus last year that we would be back for him this year? His contract is ending right?

Yeah, but now that he's out of contract, he'll be wanting a decent wage.
