FIFA Ethics

I can't believe there isn't a thread about this. I guess it sums up the complete apathy that football fans have towards the most important issues.

The fallout from the Garcia investigation today gives us fans the opportunity to unite together and radically change the game for the better. We could bring in wage caps, address the issue of ticketing costs and ensure even distribution to promote competition.

But we won't. We'll all sit there and accept whatever we're told despite the people in power figuratively shitting on us from a great height.

I'm tired of this shit.

Ahmad Darw, member of the Fifa appeal committee Garcia hopes will overturn J. Eckert's 'erroneous' decision, took Bin Hammam's cash in 2010

So FIFA investigates FIFA and finds FIFA not guilty. The only really corrupt individual on the Qatari bid was serving his own interest, according to FIFA, and not acting on behalf of the Qatari bid. The principal investigator disagrees with the summation of the report but FIFA won't allow him to publish the report findings and has to appeal against the version of events as presented by the summariser. The appeals committee contains a panel member who took the corrupt Qatari's money. Fifa is set up to never lose.

FIFA reeks of corruption. This report was pretty ridiculous even by their standards. A FIFA ethics committee finds FIFA to be clear of corruption. What a surprise. But they go one step further by accusing England of corruption...simply because England had the temerity to question FIFAs selection process. It's absolutely farcical but what can you do? FIFA answer to no one, they are a law unto themselves.

The European nations + South America need to breakaway from FIFA and soon the other confederations will follow.

Quite amusing what the England 2018 bid guy was saying where they had been pinged for a £30k party they held for Trinidad & Tobago's FA , but no mention at all of Qatar covering a whole continent's conference at a cost of £1.2m.

Anybody any idea why the England 2018 suit kept making pointed references to Hamas & terrorist funding re Qatar which the Sky bloke stayed well away from ?

The FA can suck my chocolate salty balls. Everyone knows FIFA are corrupt as fuck, but it didn't stop the FA joining in the fun and saying fuck all while their bid was still in play.

As soon as it went south we had to put up with the FA's vomit-inducing faux outrage. Well if you knew the bidding process was corrupt why didn't you withdraw from the process and take your moral stand then? And now we know why - you were schmoozing one of the most corrupt officals in there, you two-faced cunts.

And still nothing will be done about any of it.

Doesn't matter whether everyone else was more corrupt or not, the FA have still been found to have violated the bid process. I presume that the FA will be investigated and held to account for this. Or will they just whine about how they are the least corrupt and pretend that this is justification for their behaviour?

Complete FA overhaul is required

I have to laugh at the F.A for moaning about a corrupt and loaded enquiry.

Seem to remember Luis Suarez having to go through the same with that trumped up racism case, what goes around comes around eh.....

its hardly surprising our FA are not above reproach given the example FIFA set however they are fucking amateurs compared to Blatter and the boys

Criminality is not a competition about who did it the most or the hardest. Corruption is corruption and the FA have been caught. Not only that, they made the Prime Minister and the future King the public face of a corrupt bid. So what is that cunt, Cameron, going to do about it?

Cameron will do what politicians do - he'll stick his snout in the trough and get as much of that good shit as he can before it finally blows up.

I can't get too excited at the FA's lame attempt to win votes and find it slightly amusing that they came clean with the enquiry them got shafted by FIFA  whilst everyone else said fuck all and got a clean bill of health . As for Cameron he will back Dyke

Jerome Champagne has withdrawn from running for FIFA president as he didn't get the necessary backing from at least 5 national FAs. It leaves Prince Ali of Jordan, Michael van Praag from the Dutch FA, and Luis Figo. The funniest part is that FIFA's Ethics Committee will vet the other candidates for their integrity!

Jerome Champagne exits FIFA presidential race

Jerome Champagne has announced he is withdrawing from the race for the FIFA presidency after failing to receive the necessary backing, claiming some FAs had "feared reprisals" if they supported him.

Champagne had announced in January last year that he planned to challenge for the role currently held by Sepp Blatter, but he received the support of only three national associations, falling short of the five required to enter the voting.

Champagne announced his withdrawal in a letter to national associations where he blamed UEFA and the "institutions" mobilising to eliminate him.

"I regret to have to announce that I have not presented the five sponsorship letters needed to be registered as a candidate in the election of 29 May," the Frenchman said in a statement. "I warmly thank the three federations that have endorsed me and the many presidents who explained with candour and friendship, that they could not do it despite their interest in my program."

He added: "The institutions have mobilised to eliminate the only independent candidate. The latest events orchestrated in secret with barely veiled intentions by one of them, distributing letters of support between candidates, made me lose sponsorships, especially in Europe!

"The hidden agenda -- or not so hidden after all -- is clear: under the guise of reforming FIFA lies the objective of further weakening it in favour of continental structures. This at a time when a strong governance of football, with regulatory and redistributive powers, is needed more than ever. It constitutes the perennial vision of UEFA since 1998!

"It is also to pave the road for the wealthy actors of the West European football to get their hands on the last thing they do not control yet: FIFA and the world government of football."

FIFA confirmed on Monday that Blatter, who is seeking a fifth term and is the firm favourite to win the vote in May, faces competition from Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein of JordanDutch FA chief Michael van Praag and former Portugal international Luis Figo, subject to integrity checks, which will be carried out within 10 days.

David Ginola had earlier withdrawn from the running after failing to gain the backing of five FAs.

Champagne said there had been a variety of reasons that he had not received the support he required, adding: "Because they feared reprisals from their confederations having issued 'recommendations.'

"Because their federations were candidates to host continental competitions. Because they relied too heavily on the financial support. Because they were committed to defend a united continental front.

"Because some of the presidents were themselves engaged in an election or simply preferred another candidate.

"I also note that I would have been a candidate with the old version of the rules, and that I cannot be one with the new modifications adopted in 2013 on a UEFA proposal.

"Despite the disappointment, I do not feel any bitterness because I know how the pyramidal structure of football works."

Champagne had worked at FIFA until 2010, when he was forced out of his role as director of international relations after figures at the organisation apparently felt he already had ambitions to run for the presidency and was over-stepping his responsibilities.

As long as many of us still buy tickets and merchandise, and keep watching / attending the world cup then the sponsors will keep sponsoring and FIFA will carry on.

We keep saying we're appalled by what FIFA (and UEFA for that matter) get up to, but we keep tuning in, time and time again buying their product (in some form or other). Seems we're not really that bothered by it at all.

Some of Blatter's biggest allies over the past 20 years have had their wings clipped (Jack Warner, Ricardo Teixeira, Mohammed bin Hammam and Issa Hayatou) or just died (Julio Grondona) but it remains to be seen exactly how much influence he has in those parts of the world. FIFA's blatantly corrupt practices and lack of transparency have helped syphon millions of pounds to the dodgy federation leaders and presidents so they aren't likely to want to wave goodbye to all of that and maybe face ramifications.

Yes, if people voted with their feet regarding FIFA sponsors and they started pulling out (as some smaller ones have) then, FIFA and world football would act.

Sadly this is very true. I think blatter still has a very strong powerbase. Much as Id love to see him out on his boney arse, I cant see it happening.
