Burning Question: Rickie Lambert - Are you on board with it?

I would be very confident they are performance based, not appearance based.

We are crafty like that.

Your probably right, that'd definitely make more sense. Some of them seem to think the add on's pertain to us winning the league or trophy related add on's.

Where do Southampton seem to think that?

It's all over the Southampton forum.

Lambert is better than Aspas so therefore we have improved the squad and the cover for our two main strikers - Aspas gets bin bagged now

That is what this signing is about, surely.

We will now get on with improving our first team options where needed.

Just watched his interview. There are few things better than seeing someone achieve their dreams, its a great interview almost worth the fee for the feel good factor. I'm made up for him I hope he hits the ground running.

Yep, that interview was fucking boss, it showed everything that football should be about. Good luck to him, i hope he bangs em in just to see the delight on his face.

If you watch Lambert, yeah he's decent in the air but he's not a number 9. A lot of his game is dropping into the space and linking players in the AM. A bit sheringhamesque. His midfield background no doubt factors for that. I think he's a great signing and if we get three good years out of him then fantastic.

I've seen it reported as £4.5m at most so without a source I don't know why you'd think we're going to be paying £9m for him.

On board? More like pushed overboard. It's going to get really emotional when we see the humongous gulf in quality between him and Suarez/Sturridge when we put this plodder on the pitch next to them, or god forbid, instead of them. The closer to zero the total minutes he's on the pitch next season is, the better. It isn't his fault though, it's the clubs fault. In the same way he jumped at the chance to sign for us (like Adam, Downing, Aspas and the rest of the do-nothings), I'd jump at the chance to strangle Ian Ayre.

I'd like to but people keep posting ridiculous things. It's not like we've signed David Villa or something

David Villa is off to play in that top quality league that is the MLS, and he's been shit since he had that bad injury at Barcelona. Lambert has scored and assisted double figures for the last 5 years including 2 years in the premier league and has only cost £4m and probably on less than a third what Villa is on at New York City I think the lad will do a good job for us (Lambert) and I think he will grab his fair share of goals next season.

So you want us to sign a striker who is on the same level as Suarez/Sturridge but is happy to sit on the bench every week? The way I look at it, is Lambert good enough to be 3rd choice in a champions league/title chasing side? Yes. Is he as good as the 3rd choice choice for our rivals? (Welbeck,Torres, Ba, Jovetic, Dzeko, Sanogo et al) Yes, I'd say I'd rather him than almost all of them.
