Ignoring the road bike advice (if you lived in West Yorkshire you'd know why I'm not overly keen on riding on roads just yet), I've just been and organised myself one of these for £550:

I have a 29er mountain bike by Specialized. Loads of fun and fast enough.

Cath, the roads in West Yorkshire are populated in large numbers by the angriest, most arrogant, unaware fucktards on the planet. There are people knocked off their bikes or punched by car drivers on a weekly basis. Fuck that bullshit; I spend enough time on the road in my car dealing with the wankers I share the roads with. I'll be taking the bike to the Leeds - Liverpool canal toepath which served me so well in the past during my running phase.
