    • No, he is still an average player and we can find better.

    • We need to evaluate him at the end of the season and take it from there.

He has certainly improved since BR told him he can leave if anyone is stupid enough to make us an offer. His workrate has increased but he is still a shithouse who won't put his foot in. Despite the increased effort his end product is barely any better.

His problem is he that he is slow minded and telegraphs just about everything he does. That is why so many of his shots and crosses get blocked. You often see him get the ball in a good position with plenty of time to whip in a telling cross but by the time he has decided what he is going to do he is closed down. Slow feet. This is a disease that has no cure, a football equivalent of AIDS. The sooner we get shut the better.

His shooting is also piss poor, he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo, unless the cow was suspended at least eight feet off the ground.

I would say he isnt likely to get any better than of late. Is that good enough for LFC, i think not. Give him his dew, he has improved and does try a lot harder. But sometimes your best just isnt good enough.

In Downings case this is the case for me, upgrade on hin in the summer.

I would sell him this summer if we can get a decent deal for him and has someone else lined up. Yes, he has improved a wee bit and done okay in some games. Still, in terms of creating and scoring goals, he is not offering enough. His position in the team is definitely a place we must improve - we need someone to come in, play his position and make a difference if we are going to get back into the top four next season. I would rather keep the likes of Henderson and Assaidi than Downing. Downing has had his chance.
