I think people's opinions are based on

A. He's not South American, so doesn't have the genetic predisposition to want to play for Barca or Real.

B. He's been tossed about between a few clubs but has finally hit his stride here, so would be more likely to stay at a team which plays to his strengths. Rather than gamble on another move where he may lose that form, then end up shifted on yet again when he isn't an immediate success.

He's been deemed a success at every club he's played aside from Chelsea hasn't he? I know he's stepped up with us, but I think Chelsea are the exception, not us.

to be honest if he is going to go let him go now getting abit fed up of the will he wont he question day in day out  let some one in the squad that wants to play for us take his place or give us 3 weeks to see if we can get someone in

If we don’t line up a replacement, he can’t go in January! I don’t want money and then we try to get a replacement with it. I want the replacement signed and then we sell. It could all be virtually at the same time too. But we can’t leave ourselves short.

It’s been said loads, but we have the upper hand here, due to contract. No need to allow ourselves to be bullied.

If a top, top club makes their interest concrete, Salah will want to go there and so would pretty much any player. It's too bad but there's no doubt about it.

It would be just like FSG to do a good thing by getting VVD in last week and then totally mitigate it by selling Coutihno without replacing him this window.

Going on past form of say that's most likely but I'm hoping the penny has finally dropped with them and they realise hamstringing your squad affects where you finish. If Klopp wants him gone out the squad because of his sulking Im fine with that but I don't want no excuses as to why we couldn't replace him this window.

Players have turned top, top clubs down before in order to stay with us. Wishful thinking maybe, but it's possible.

Barcelona are proposing a transfer fee worth about £142 million for Philippe Coutinho as they move closer to signing the Brazil forward who has rejected Liverpool’s last-ditch attempts to keep him at Anfield, writes @_pauljoyce

Liverpool have made attempts in recent days to persuade Coutinho to stay but their difficulty is that the issue is not about money. His heart is set on moving to the Nou Camp this month. Coutinho believes a deal is imminent. (Paul Joyce)

actually my opinions were based upon an interview about his life rather than just his football CV.

What am I missing here? He's our player, he's under contract, we don't have to offer him more money to stay, we just tell him he's staying until the summer.

Yeah, simple really. Doesn't deserve half a season pay rise for being a little cunt.

If he goes without us getting a replacement in first, then FSG will have completely fucked both Klopp and the fans.

Call his bluff like city did with Tevez. He goes on strike he doesn’t get paid and we keep fining him. His values not going to reduce by the summer and we show players and other clubs that we’re not getting fucked around.

He’ll blink first.

The media

Despite what the media is spouting, we have no intention of selling this window if Barcelona don't make a serious offer and the idea of "paying him to honour his contract" is laughable. People will believe anything.
