As some of you know my brother died earlier this month at the age of forty nine. His funeral his tomorrow. For most of the second half of his life he struggled with the impact of drink and drugs. At various times this left him; homeless, in trouble with the police, and hospitalised many times. A place of solace for him was CAP. He could always go there for a meal, a non judgemental friendly face, and help navigating his chaotic life. You can learn more about what they do here: https://www.capcare.org/ In January this year, my youngest sister and myself were called by a very worried volunteer. He was there, clinging to a r…

I have got a few days off work and decided to get a few beers and get a few of my old Vinyls on the go and have now got stuck in a Prodigy loop. I honestly think they are so unappreciated for what they did and the style of music they encompassed. They appealed to so many different people who love so completely different genres and were one of my favourite live acts ever. I had the pleasure to work with them quite a few times and they were absolutely great and genuinely nice fellas with no airs and graces about them.

Any recommendations? I always assumed they were just sheer pain in a bottle and for try hard wannabe tough guys and I was right, now I want in. All of these are really good, I was expecting to die from the Caroline reaper bottle but it only contains 6% chilli in it and a really nice garlic hit too, Encona has a really nice fruity spice, the Naga is probably the hottest with a Indian spice flavour as well and you can't go wrong with Tabasco. Any recommendations?

You’re in a room with the King, the Pope and the richest man in history. You have a sword and they all beckon you to kill the other two and offer you whatever you want. Who lives and who dies?

This kind of stuff seems to be dismissed as pretty crackpot but I honestly don't know why, I think there are clues all over. Most ancient civilisations have a 'flood myth', about a flood destroying civilisation and leaving only a few survivors. The Sumerians - basically regarded as the first civilisation - came out of nowhere around 6,000 years ago. Their language was unlike anything in the surrounding region and one of their ancient myths was about a creature who was half man and half fish rising from the sea. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Oannes Oannes: I've seen it suggested that maybe they'd lived on…

How long would it be, before someone reported you missing?

Righto, might not be the biggest news to many, but this will be everything to my little girl and there’s every likelihood the next 12 months will have some shit in them, so - in addition to me putting my name in the had through the club registration, and me asking the fella I sit next to to do the same, if anyone at all has any inside contacts that could possibly pull a string or two to help smooth a route to tickets, could they just keep me in mind. cheers, that’s all.

Finally got round to watching this on Amazon Prime, hammered about six series of it in three weeks or so. It's absolutely brilliant. It's based on a series of novels and set in the 23rd century. Earth is run by the UN, a colonised Mars is a rival and independent power, and millions of people live in "the belt", all the moons and asteroids at the edge of the solar system. They're exploited and shit on by "the inners". Pirates, smuglers, hauliers, miners, private companies, political intrigue, navies, the stirrings of mysterious alien first contact. The science is pretty similar to what we have now with gravity boots and g for…

I am sure there’s a similar thread but I can’t find it… …it’s a bit of a Springwatch survey …there’s a family of foxes living at the bottom of our garden but there’s only one cub which I thought I was quite unusual and then I heard from someone else that they don’t have any foxes this year. Is it coincidence or maybe the effects of a cold prolonged winter?

I can think of four times offhand of any time rolling tv news has been useful, informative or entertaining: 9/11, 7/7, Moaty and that lass in the bed in Dewsbury. This Nottingham thing today is ridiculous. "So how are you, and indeed, the people of Nottingham feeling about these incidents today? How is it affecting their day? Have the police given you any indication of how long the cordons will be in place?" Followed by some woman in front of an overhead map explaining in detail where the cordons are. Back to LIVE in Nottingham "And here, you can see there's some blue and white tape where the police cordons has been p…

If you had a choice between being too hot or too cold with no remedying the situation such as the use of fans/cold water/radiators/clothing which would you choose? For the purposes of this poll, the too hot or too cold criteria is that they are both as uncomfortable as possible without doing you any physical harm (dehydration or sunburn isn't a factor either).

These fuckers are laughing at us. I was listening to some fella yesterday talking about it, saying as a race we are advanced enough to build planes/rockets but not prevent the damage to the environment etc. The terminators will be clever enough to work out a way to avoid all the shit that comes with good stuff. But at what cost? Programmers have apparently been saying that they no longer tell the terminators what to do, they now take things up by themselves and show humans what to do. Seems like some business owners won't be looking for talent in fields other than being able to manage the terminators in the not to distant future. Are we going full Skynet? Sho…

Love Island 2023 starts on Monday. I know most of the alpha males on here will be watching it, and will need a thread to dissect some of the complicated intellectual discussions that take place. Feel free to peddle the excuse of "I only watch it 'cos my missus does." Personally, I watch it as an anthropological study - a microcosm of the challenges we face in our own relationships. I hardly notice the bikinis with high heels. Get graftin'

Kids singing it at festivals etc, fans at sports events, people with it on t-shirts. What do you think of it all? This was funny. I'd love to volley Mike Graham in his wobbly concrete tree pervy boat the fucking tory cunt
