The far right stuff is a dead end in the States IMO. They've spent decades deriding the State as 'the beast' with the Republican core vote, so traditional fascism - which preaches subservience to the State and 'the leader' is a non starter. 

 

If you look at, say, Russia. Their far right are young skinheads, organised, they go around beating people up and doing heinous shit and probably have decent connections in the police and military. In the States, the 'right' are basically 80 stone, riding around Costco in disabled scooters blaming Communism for the spread of AIDS. 

 

Trump just blerts this shit out because he's lazy and it's a case of lash everything at the wall and see what sticks.

According to a Republican working on the convention, the campaign is now preparing to cancel the event so that Trump doesn’t suffer another Tulsa–like humiliation. “They probably won’t have it,” the source said. “It’s not going to be the soft landing Trump wanted.”

Neither the Trump campaign nor the White House responded to requests for comment.

Trump remains furious at his son-in-law Jared Kushner, whom he blames for the campaign’s dismal poll numbers. Axios reported this week that Trump complained privately that Kushner’s advice on criminal-justice reform damaged Trump politically. But because Kushner is family, sources say it’s unlikely that Trump will formally strip him of authority.

The Kushner thing just reinforces the idea that Trump thinks like an Italian mobster, lots of whom he's probably mingled with and done business with, the idea that you can only trust family members and that blood trumps ability, no pun intended.
