I love the hierarchy of stewards though. It's like a Somali clan system, all depends what part of the ground you work in and whether you know the right people.

 

My next door neighbour used to be a head steward in the Centenary stand and he could categorise how much of a cunt people were by what part of the ground they worked in and if they were best mates with the head steward in that area. He really did take it seriously and get worked up over it all.

 

It was a shit paid job and he thought he was ace working in the Centenary lounge. They would also have to stay about 2 hours longer than most of the other stewards but it was all worth it due to the thrill of checking John Barnes and David Moores passes and telling them "they could be anyone".

If that was my neighbour I'd be sending him anonymous postcards addressed to Steward Downing just for my own amusement.
