Shortly prior to the meeting, the owners - Tom Hicks and George Gillett - sought to remove Managing Director Christian Purslow and Commercial Director Ian Ayre from the Board, seeking to replace them with Mack Hicks and Lori Kay McCutheon.

Fucking hell.

People still pushing the conspiracy angle? Time to back off of Purslow and Ayre. Better the devil you know.

Smacks to me of one final act of desperation to smoke out other bidders.

Any serious bidders will wait until the two cunts default and RBS take over.

I have to disagree. It will be more difficult to buy from the bank than from the current ownership. This is the "pre foreclosure" phase and it is the best point of entry for a qualified buyer.

Liverpool Football Club tonight issued the following press statement:

The Board of Directors have received two excellent financial offers to buy the Club that would repay all its long-term debt. A Board meeting was called today to review these bids and approve a sale. Shortly prior to the meeting, the owners - Tom Hicks and George Gillett - sought to remove Managing Director Christian Purslow and Commercial Director Ian Ayre from the Board, seeking to replace them with Mack Hicks and Lori Kay McCutheon.

This matter is now subject to legal review and a further announcement will be made in due course.

Meanwhile Martin Broughton, Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre continue to explore every possible route to achieving a sale of the Club at the earliest opportunity.

So there is definitely something to this then, that's good news. Equally good news is that Gillett and Hicks are clearly not in charge of this media release.

They're scared, they're moving up their attempts to get in their own shitehawks so they can push through their agenda, if it happens we're fucked but time is short for them. Hopefully it will be short enough.

Mmmmm interesting......Surely Ayres and Purslow must feel they are in a strong position legally, otherwise they wouldn't be going up against the owners as they are.

These dickheads trying to chase Purslow and Ayre don't seem to realise they are the best fucking ally we have at the moment. If they weren't there then Hicks and Gillett would have full control and we'd already be in the process of being asset stripped.

Keep chasing them though regardless of the fact if you get what you want you WILL kill Liverpool F.C.

That is a bloody mental development.

God knows what the fuck it means, and why they wouldn't have done it before if removing Purslow/Ayre was the only things they needed to push their vote through.

Not to mention how it's gotten onto the Offal if there's an internal power struggle.

Never thought I'd see such days.

They were never going quietly.

The good point of the statement is that their intentions have been made clear in public. Nice one Offal. RBS and Wachovia now know that H&G are not acting in the interest of clearing their debts. No extension while they act like that.

Maybe so, but the idea of Hicks or Gillett approving the latest statement is unrealistic to say the least so dare I say I'm slightly optimistic that people are working hard behind the scenes to push this deal through before H&G have full control?
