  5. The history of the rise and fall of Irish Whiskey is an interesting story. It was once the worlds leading type, far more popular than scotch etc. but famine, ww1, civil war and prohibition all ended up largely killing the sector until just a few brands remained in existence and operation. Angry us right in that of the 20plus distilleries planned a number will fail to get off the ground or fail not long after. Nonetheless their is momentum in the industry and you will see a number of new producers in years to come. At the movement a lot of the new brands are sourcing stock from existing distillers. This is not unusual in the industry as the whiskey industry has always had a history of buying and blending other manufacturers stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Forget whisky... Whiskey as in Irish is going to be the most exciting development going forward. Significant number of new distilleries planned and already some exciting newcomers to the market. Teelings a good place to start... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Well I was never much into Star Wars as a kid (nearly 43...). Much preferred the gritty realism of Roger Moore era Bond movies. Brought my 11 year old to the new Star Wars movie the other day. Thought it was fucking majestic. I felt like a kid watching it and came out on a high. A great cinema experience in terms of pure entertainment. Han Solo is one cool mofo. I could not give a damn about whether it plays up, sends up etc. the originals. It was a pretty perfect afternoon and the ending left me longing for more. We went straight to HMV and bought the first 6 movies. In every long series (Bond) there are ups and downs in quality. For every Connery fan there is a Moore fan. This movie adds to the stars wars myth and ensures millions more people will see it and become a fan. 36 years too late I have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Lads complete non techs here. Got a 4k or tv box and have installed (thanks to this thread) vdub, Phoenix and Dexter. Vdub very laggy - pausing all the time. Phoenix when I click on bein2 I get nothing and on Dexter again lagging. Internet at home ok... So is it the stream? Getting frustrated as Lfc on bein2 later today! Thanks for any advice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Farrell and McAdams are superb. Her jeans should get an award as best actress supporting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Adriatic coast of Italy. If you like a beach holiday, good restaurants, no English or Irish... Try "gabbicce mare". Cattollica is beside it and a little more lively. Both areAbout 30 mins down from Rimini. Both are full of Italians, Germans and The odd Swiss. We have gone twice and have seen very very few Irish / UK and those there were married with kids / anti larger lout types. It is a family resort... But ticks the boxes you have outlined. 11. I am one. Never wanted to do it - Art was my first love at school. But it and being an astronaut did not work out. Im in my early 40's, working in accounting since 17, have been unemployed for 1 day. I have had a varied career in terms of organisations and sectors. I have worked in small practice, banking, big practice (global firm), and industry. I have worked in different sectors including banking, corporate finance, insolvecny etc., I know own my own practice. If it is not a passion it is work. However i have a good standard of living, nice house, nice car and nice holidays. I can consider sending children to fee paying schools if I wanted to. Do I get pissed off - yes. Do I have good days yes. The key thing about the qualification is that it does not just make you a number cruncher - if you do the right qualification you will be a broad financial professional who will have many doors open to you. What you do with that depends on your ability, your ambition and sometimes how the cards fall. But you will have the core skills to open doors and support in many different endeavours. I don't regret doing it for a minute. BTW - I am an ACCA. They have 600,000 members and students in over 80 countries. Its portable, you can travel. I would recommend it highly over competing qualifications. Good luck with your decision and your career
  12. My Top 5 1 Acqua di Parma Colonia. Old School citrus cologne. Wifey. Loves it 2 Knize 10. The reference leather. Takes a hard neck to wear. Not for the younger chap. 3. Eau Sauvage. A classic for a reason. Too fleeting unfortunately 4. Jo Malone Amber & Lavender. Classic mans scent. Fail safe lasts. And projects well. Current favourite 5. The next one i buy
  13. Volvo is the best kept secret. Great cars. Very comfortable if u do big milage
  14. Black suits should only be worn by undertakers and maitre d's. Navy or Dark Grey is the choice of the sartorial gent.. Preferably .with black shoes with the exception in some circumstances a very dark brown and even then I remain sceptical.
  15. Paddington. Brought the kids. Thought it was ace. Kidman brilliant as baddie. 9/10
  16. Fairytale of New York. Its over played, over rated and going to wreck my head between now and January.
  17. I admire this... However business and the wife will never let me be completely free. However i am seriously considering a crap blackberry that allows me do my work and the wife contact me. My business partner turns his off every evening at 7.30pm when he walks in door. I wish i had that discipline. Glad im not the only one
  18. Beginning to get a bit pissed off with the usage / amount time i spend on my phone. I use it a lot for work, also use it as i manage a footy team and am involved in the admin of club. On top of this i spend a shit load of time on twitter, forums for my interests and off course this place. i hate the fact i am unable to be miserable watching Real ruin LFC last night with out checking how misreable the twittersphere or the inmates on here are. Same goes when we are winning a game. I get really pissed off with people i dont know and will never meet for opinions expressed online. Conversely i admire others for same reason. I have to Google random shit to win unimportant discussions, i read books on my phone (downloaded simultaneously to my Samaung S4 and Galaxy Tab)... I waste time wondering would a Windows phone work even more seamlessly with my work systems. I spend hours justifying myself, despite having owned a3, a 4 and a 5 as being not an iphone fanboy, yet still contemplate dropping €700 on a 16gb iphone 6 the week it came out on Heathrow. I have checked it in movies, in restaurant having dinner with wife. Im going to sunday for a few days next week and will be checking email, twittet and hear almost as regulary as at home. Im so annoyed with the level of interaction i have with it, im thinking of getting a basic old school blackberry for work and moving away from a smartphone. i feel worse than the worst clingy girlfriend. Anyone else need a break from their phone... or is it not the phone and kust me.
  19. Had a turkey rasher today. Thought it would be muck, and sacrilege in term's of proper breakfast etiquette. Very tasty, and i to indulge again soon. Good for heart too!
  20. Volvo S80. Very underrated car. Big, safe and very comfortable. 110km, average 47mpg, plenty of torque and power despite being a 1.6 diesel and a big car. Plus its not German ..which are de rigeur almost amongst other middle aged farts like me. At weekend i drive wifes hyundai santa fe. 7 seater, powerful with 186hp, nice to drive for big jeep. Get consistent 40mpg. In short a brilliant family car.
