We got a point against 'hopeless' Stoke' date=' last week.[/quote']

And we got written off for the title on that last week, lets see if is the same with Arsenal. I dont think so because of the southern based media love in will call it a blip ! Arsenal and in particular Wenger are a bunch of arrogant self absorbed pricks, they play fantastic football yes but are more likely to play 29 passes and get a corner than score. It is all smoke and mrrors.

Its the "arrogant" fans that piss me off the most really. All that "HOOF!" bollox when we play them really gets under my skin a bit.

i haven't seen the Hull game yet but i'm assuming there was plenty of long ball direct route one play in the final few minutes!

Absolutely. I think I really started to loath their fans after the Carra incident, when they went beserk after he had the temerity to lob a pound coin back that someone had launched at his head. Anyone who can remember how they played under George Graham must want to throw up at their current 'purist' pose. Also, if Rafa had been as tactically incoherent as Wenger appeared in the last half hour of yesterday's match he would have been mocked for months to come by the pundits.

Arsenal can be a delight to watch & I definitely do not have any hatred for them like I do for Man Utd & Chelsea , but I feel they get a really easy ride from the media.

We would get filleted if we had a result like theirs today , they will get mild criticism at most.

Whilst there is no doubt we are more workmanlike than them at times , a statistic that has not been widely published since last Saturday maybe suggests that there are more than one way of skinning a cat.

We have not let a home goal in against a promoted team in our last 13 games.

Arsenal kids to rule? Sorry Arsene Wenger, but football's not that simple

By Brian Reade 27/09/2008

Michel Platini could have picked a better week to tell the world that Arsene Wenger was more interested in hard business than pure football. You didn't need to witness Arsenal's Carling Cup annihilation of Sheffield United to realise Platini is turning into one of those annoying Parisian street theatre clowns you want to nudge into the path of a passing Citroen.

You just had to look at the 6-0 scoreline, the average age of his team, 19, and the adjectives being used to describe the kids' performances to realise that UEFA's boss has either gone totally ga-ga, or his hatred of English football has left him in need of a labrador and a white stick.

Even Platini's mantra that he only attacks the Premiership's Big Four because he's worried about them stifling native talent was exposed as a lie, as on Tuesday night there were ten British youngsters either on the pitch or on the bench for Arsenal.

The only defence I can give Platini is that he wasn't the only one using the wrong words to describe Wenger's achievements. There was also a couple of thousand pundits and fans alongside him.

The ones hailing that young Arsenal side as the future of football, set to dominate at home and abroad for a good decade. Based on one Carling Cup triumph. If only it were that simple.

Three years ago Wenger sent a team of kids up to Sunderland in the Carling Cup and destroyed them 3-0, forcing many onlookers to predict they had seen the future of football. Stunned Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy went before the microphones shaking his head in disbelief to proclaim: "This is the best collection of young talent I've ever seen."

I agreed with McCarthy having watched the game through awestruck eyes. The style and maturity those kids showed was breathtaking.

But let me remind you of the starting line-up: Almunia, Eboue, Cygan, Campbell, Senderos, Larsson, Muamba, Song, Owusu-Abeyie, Van Persie, Lupoli. Then ask where they are now? Only four (Almunia, Song, Eboue and Van Persie) are still at Arsenal. Muamba is at Bolton, Cygan at Villarreal, Senderos on loan to AC Milan. Larsson and Owusu-Abeyie are playing Championship football at Birmingham and Lupoli is in the same division at Norwich.

Two wonder-kids came off the bench that night, Anthony Stokes (who joined Sunderland) and Patrick Cregg (now at Falkirk). In the three years since, only one player has won a major trophy: Sol Campbell. At Portsmouth.

After Tuesday, Arsenal insiders claimed Jack Wilshere was the new Liam Brady and Carlos Vela the next Lionel Messi. Wenger hailed this current crop as "the greatest generation" and Cesc Fabregas says there is nothing that they cannot achieve.

And they may be proved correct.

But that's what people said three years ago, when Fabrice Muamba was proclaimed the new Patrick Vieira. What was he doing last Saturday? Struggling so badly at The Reebok that Gary Megson hauled him off for Ricardo Vaz Te. Now that's what I call perspective.

Was Arsenal's team of three years ago the future? No. Is the one that ripped Sheffield United apart? Probably not.

By all means love the explosion of talent Wenger creates, marvel at the skill of his young sides and applaud its philosophy. But don't confuse artistic merit and potential with trophies, domestic domination or making an impact on the wider world of football.

Believing Wenger's latest crop of kids is guaranteed to stick together and reign supreme is like believing anything that comes out of his compatriot Platini's mouth.

In plain English: Highly inadvisable.

When Arsenal hoof the ball against us we should shout "HULL" as that would really piss them off.
