Has Alonso definitely said he won’t come. I heard stuff about him staying there but that might just have been to shut the noise down till his season is finished. Just got a feeling he’s not out the race. If he is and Amorim is out we may go down the Rodgers route again and get someone who’s done well at a lower level and that’s got to be a big gamble. I think I’d rather keep Linders as a caretaker till we can get a top manager

Gets experience at one of the biggest clubs in the world. Knows the setup and players already. Good for his cv. If he does well he gets offered a proper contract. The downside would be a one year contract but if was happy with that then it’s not a problem. I don’t think he would do it even on a longer contract as he seems to want away but the thought of just getting a substandard manager in as our real targets are unavailable seems like something that could set us back years.
