If Juventus had no intention of using him then why is he still at the club on deadline day?

Why has he fallen so far out of favour with Juventus?

If the idea is to use him as a backup Thiago, then it could be a decent signing.

This is a really good question but there is more than a hint that he was brought in as part of some financial shenanigans and I wouldn't be surprised if the answer were related to that.

As a signing, it's pretty much a "meh." Probably reduces the very small risk of us finishing outside the top 4 but other than that, doesn't do much. Decent passer, retains the ball well, but not much else.

I look forward to him being blamed every time we drop points.

Arthur Fowler > Arthur Melo. Daniel Day-Lewis is good, Marlon Brando was better, but Bill Treacher is the greatest method actor of all time.

That's when Arthur found out Mark has AIDS and he'd been drinking from the same teapot.

AIDS.

It's not a particularly exceptional thing to happen at Juve, they cycle through flavours of the month, pad the squad out with free transfers and then drop them or move them on.

Players are commodities in Serie A probably more than anywhere else in the big leagues with moves between rivals quite frequent.

They let the likes of Bentancur and Kulusevski go with little fuss, they've now let Arthur and Zakaria go as well, it's all about balancing the books or making space for the next shiny thing (Paredes in this instance).

Reading an ESPN article on his move to Juve earlier and Sport ran a poll when Barca were selling him, 77% of Barca fans didn't want him to go, the coaching staff didn't want him to go and Arthur didn't want to go.

If it wasn't for the fact that both Juve and Barca could record the sales in their entirety and then amortise the value of the incoming player so they could both register a €50m profit and satisfy FFP he'd have stayed at Barca.

Caulker, Kabak, now Arthur. At least our punts on stop-gap loans are on an upward trend in terms of quality.

Still seems a bit mad though. Bringing in someone who may be made of pink wafers to cover those of a similar ilk. Ideally, he's fit when others aren't, and things dovetail. It's just as likely, however, that everyone's fit at the same time - and he doesn't see much game time - or he's crocked at the same time. Either way, the team won't be improved.

Certainly a gamble.
