Tory Cabinet Thread

Tory MPs who were whipped into voting for the proposed changes to the standards regime were threatened with a loss of funding for their constituencies; basically, the Tories were using corruption to force a vote for more corruption.

Walked past the great mans statue today. Make no mistake if Bevan posted his thoughts on the EU on here he'd be fuvking slaughtered, same with Foot, Benn, Atlee, Bob Crow.

Cobblers.

People on the EU thread who spent/spend time trying to justify the 2016 vote which concentrated power in the hands of the right wing of the Tory Party would probably not find any Socialist giants of the past rushing to support their half-truths and misrepresentations.

Is what Patterson did just against parliamentary rules or it it actually illegal for a politician to accept money to lobby for their interests. If its illegal why is he not facing legal problems rather than suspension, resignation and moving on to earn even more cash. Corruption isn't punished so the rewards far outweigh the consequences.

The Mail have gone to town on this Paterson story, with Johnson and the Chief Whip being held responsible. Has the decision been made to pull the plug on Johnson as leader? A lot of the Tory press weren’t at all happy with the budget and Sunak has let it be known that it was very much a Johnson budget rather than own it himself. I suspect most Tories would much prefer a Thatcherite low tax and spend leader, and forget all this “levelling up, high spending (haha), high taxing, green nonsense”.

The whole thing stinks.

Unless you were an expert in that companies field, why else would you be paid 80k a year as an 'advosor' if not to give the company a helping hand from the gmnt?

Increase an mps salary and bar them from taking advisory roles.

Simple.

Nadhim Zahawi was not long ago trousering £30k per MONTH, amongst other income streams, for a part time roll that did not intefer with his MP case load.

Seems legit.

My source (Mrs willard) says the mood music in the party is shifting, the Patterson debacle may be the last straw for Johnson. He's increasingly being seen as a liability rather than an asset and ultra ambitious Ministers like Gove and Sunak are looking at that 80 seat majority and thinking they could be PM for 10 years plus if they get rid of him in the next 6 months. My money is on Sunak but it needs a no confidence vote first which is hard to see happening.

It won't.

I think the party are getting serious buyers remorse. They are realizing that all his well documented character flaws they were overlooking to win an election are actually fundamental to who he is. As I said to Mrs Willard only this morning, if you voted for Boris you can't then complain when he acts like Boris. This is what you wanted.

There was always going to come a time when he'd served his purpose and they'd move on. Getting rid of him will allow them to reset with the public and blame him for mishandling everything, but it'll all be grand moving forward. I'm not convinced the time is now, possibly next year if the Covid deaths diminish.

They're going to struggle to find someone to replace him that will keep hold of the thick as shit "lads" vote.

I've said it all along that he got it so he can be the whipping boy and ultimate sacrificial lamb when brexit completely fucks up. Covid was unpredicted so he's borne the brunt of that fuck up and all and I bet the likes of Gove and Sunak are wanking themselves silly that they've got that soft bumbling cunts shoulders to dump it all on.
