Dejan Lovren

I think its hard to fairly judge any defender playing in a Brendan Rodgers side (other than Johnson) when he repeatedly fails to recognise CM as a MASSIVE weakness.

Zero protection offered by present incumbents.

We didn't control games last year, it was a complete white knuckle for virtually the whole season. Only we had a shit hot strike force which helped keep oppo attacks at bay as they were scared to commit too much.

None of that applies this season.

Pressing looks SO much easier when you have 2 lethal strikers, who can fuck you up if you get too ambitious.

Having said all that, Lovrens ball control, for one thing, is fucking terrible, whoever is in charge and whatever the "system".

A striker runs at Lovren, and Lovren starts to retreat

If Lovren goes back any further, he'll end up in a pitchside seat

He kicks with his left, He swings with his right,
But with each foot, he's equally shite
Lovren keeps getting picked, but he really is poor
It's a matter of time 'til the other team score
Now to his right right, is the useless Slovak,
He's been here a while, but I wish he'd go back.
We keep conceding, Gerrard wears a frown
He wanted to the title, but we look like going down.
I go to the game and the crowd are going mental,
I wouldn't trust Rodgers to shop at Radio Rental.
Who would have thought when so close to the dream?
That just a few months later we'd be such a shit team.
Yes the crowd did dream, when he spent that money,
But now we're just shite and it's not fucking funny.

*frowns and takes a swig from pint

I want to see him with some proper cover in front of him for at least 6 games before we throw him away. Confidence is a huge factor in footy and our whole team is over thinking it at times. Skrtel was shocking against Madrid on a few occasions but we know he can be decent when he gets some form. And I'm not really a Lovren fan but I do see some moments where he looks like he could be ok. (usually when he takes off the shirt and drives away from the ground but I'm keeping an open mind)

And Kolo had cover in front of him. The cover is the important thing. Get the basics right and then specialize. We keep looking for specialists but we just need to keep it simple. Can is easily good enough so we should just go with him.

I feel like we should have done that with our 2 upfront as well. Our attack was all about speed so just go with our 2 quickest players which seemed to be Sterling and Ibe (in the absence of Sturridge), and then build on that.

We had a fluid interchangeable and dynamic template last season. Should have just stuck to it and then worked out the problems as they showed themselves.

Kolo's twice the defender. Another nail in the committee's coffin.

He was Rodgers' FIRST CHOICE cb. Committee has nothing to do with him. Fallows & Hunter rejected him while at Man City. He's a lovechild of BR and Match of the Day. Educate yourself. Committee would have never allowed this transfer, all on Rodgers. Fact.

Fucking hell I've been moaning about him and Rodgers whole Summer. Morons.

Come on lovren and lallana were brendans choices. Any fool can see that

To be honest, Mark, I think that the buck for all transfers begins and ends with the manager. Regardless of how they came about.

But people presenting opinions as facts is complete nonsense. Unless those people are privy to more information than the rest of us. Which they won't be.
