Torres: LFC fans have loving words for me

Could be bollocks but a mate of a mate works for The Guardian Football section & apparently our medical team had told Chelsea's medical team at the time we sold him that he's legs were fucked, this was relayed up the hierarchy at Chelsea & a certain Russian told them he wanted Torres anyway regardless of the cost involved.

As I said, could be utter bollocks but it certainly makes sense in the context.

Plus, Torres is a big stupid twat anyway.

So, they offered to buy a broekn player for £50 million and we tried to put them off?  I was going to say that doesn't make sense but, you know what, it probably does.

Didn't Usher say around the time that we expected him to fail the medical at Chelsea?

When I first went to hospital about my damaged right knee at the tender age of 16 the surgeon actually used the phrase "your knee is fucked". Not really the kindest bedside manner although I did appreciate his candour.

That was heavily reported at the time also. I remember the day after he signed a few people here saying the club had fully expected him to sent starght back up to Liverpool once the medical was started.

He's been awful every single time since he eft us.  Even in Italy; a league I'd fancy us to be top half in; he looks awful.  If he was with us now we'd be even worse, if that's possible.

His collapse at Chelsea is still worth laughing at.

Years               Team                 Apps       (Gls)

2001–2007      Atlético Madrid    214           (82)

2007–2011      Liverpool            102             (65)

2011–              Chelsea              110            (20)

2014– →          Milan (loan)            9              (1)

His best years with us coincided with him playing with an obviously younger Gerrard and I think more importantly Alonso. After we sold Alonso, Stevie was half the player and Torres started to go to shit. The 09/10 season showed just how important Xabi was to our attacking play after he'd gone and it's looking that way with us this season after selling Suarez.

Depressing times...
