Yeah whatever he was on has been cut out for a few years bow and he is 20lb lighter . His cardio is better and he is fighting more strategically. If Miocic landed it would be all over byt its the same the other way too

Who's that bloke who beat Werdum? (The new UFC HW champ) never heard of him, was he supposed to be an easy defence to get rid of a bit of ring rust or is he any good?

 

Don't think it helps the UFC that we seem to get a new UFC champ everytime there's a title fight. A dominant HW champ (Like a Fedor) would do the UFC's brand wonders, its the glamour div and there's been some awful champs down the years.

Heavyweight isnt reaklythe glamour division in MMA. Its always been 170 or 205lb that the stars have been in. Since the weight limits came into top level MMA you can count on one hand the truly great heavyweights

Miocic was a very big prospect a while back and got derailed by Stefan Struve unexpectedly but bounced back big and was the beaten by Junior dos Santos and then went on another won two more big fights. He wasn't the favourite but its no massive shock. No heavyweight champion has more than two consecutive defenses.

There has never been that many long running cgampions in the UFC or Pride

Even Fedor only had three official title defenses. A lot of fights were not championship fights or they were tournament fights with no title on the line. Same with Wanderlei who had 4 defenses

Jacare is having a scan on a knee. May have injured it during the fight. I think they are waiting on the result. Might be too quick for him and i dont think he is going to blow a title shot if not 100%

That's that then. 205 has always been the best division for me. I think it's a lot to do with the blend of speed and power being best at that weight in mma

205lb is pretty poor at the momemt. Good chance Tua snd Nog are top 10s and they shoild be nowhere near that at this stage of their career. 170 and 155lb are the best weights and have been for a while ino

Heavyweight will always be the glamour div, I didn't mean HW was or has been the most interesting weight for the likes of us.

 

But HW is to the casuals and everyone else, everyone wants to see the big men. If UFC had a Mike Tyson as a HW champ it would take there brand and the sport to another level!

 

There just has never been a marketable UFC HW champ, Cro Cop certainly could of been if Gonzaga didn't come along.

Maybe to the casual viewer but MMA has never really had a big casual audience till the last couple of years

The biggest sellers in MMA history have been Tito,Liddell,McGregor and Ronda. Lesnar was also a massive seller but that was on th back of being a WWE star not a natinal heavyweight wrestling champ
