Sorry, I know this has been said a thousand times but it's so fucking depressing that we are possibly not going to strengthen this window. This is simply our best shot at CL football for five  years, and not qulaifying will clealy set us back five more or so. The argument that it's a difficult market doesn't wash with me. Whatever extra 1,2 or 5 extra million they pay out now for players, they'll more than get back if we finish in the top four.

I'm spittin' tacks. Fuck you, FSG. Pull your fucking finger out and fucking do it pronto.

I agree its looking unlikely we'll do anything but I never get why people get worked up about it before the window has closed

the january window in particular always tends to see a couple of things come up out of the blue in the last couple of days

I've watched Liverpool for 30 odd years and I know that everyone has a different opinion. But seriously, can nobody inside the club see what is glaringly obvious to everyone else? I understand the reluctance to buy defenders in the window. In a week or two it shouldn't be an issue. But even with a full complement of midfielders to choose from we are still desperately lacking. A blind man on a flying horse can see it, why can't they?

If you're looking at players who are kids and are long term buys and unlikely to make any immediate contribution, I get your point. But a lot of the tension is because people are hoping to see players who can make an immediate impact and help in our push for 4th. At the start of this month we had 19 games left. By the end of it, we'll have 15. We've already dropped 2 points we shouldn't have and have our biggest game of the season to come before the window is closed. I think people want to give the manager the very best chance we can and 2 points here and there could make all the difference.

Should bbe good to I will sit back and watch us try to get him for £12m only for a team who dont push pennies to come in and meet the £20m valuation on the final day of the transfer window and loan him out to one of our rivals for 4th place.

On the plus note all the signs are that the mata deal is a sweetener for when Rooney joins chelsea in summer.

Rooney's signing a new deal.

you have a point but I'm sure if deals could get done earlier they would be,if it gets to feb 1st and it looks like we haven't even tried to get anyone other than Salah which was never exactly a player most of us know much about anyway then by all means have a dig but this point last year I think we'd just been rejected by Sneijder and Coutinho looked like he was going to Aston Villa or Southampton without us even being linked whilst you'd have said 3 years ago someone was having a laugh if they said Torres would end the window at Chelsea with us paying 35million for Andy Carroll

But last year and 3 years ago we were chasing nothing, well 3 years ago we might have been looking over our shoulders at relegation.

It would be nice if we could do our business early though. Pay an extra 15 -20mil on signings we have identified as players we really need,

and got them in at the start of the window.

They would have settled in by now and be up and ready for the fight. Pay a little bit more now and benefit later. Instead, we keep announcing who we are after and end up failing to get them. It makes us look weak and it's curtailed our momentum.

Announcing new sponshorship deals in the interim just makes it seem like they're

taking the piss. If you've got sponsors you've got money, if you've got money then

sign some players FSG.

There's still time, but it doesn't look good. We were top of the league this year.

If that's not an incentive to make some power moves and spend some cash, what is?

It is very simple - buy a DM.  We have only two fit centre midfielders and we have not controlled a match all season unless we have played three centre midfielders together.

How can we be skint when we've hardly spent anything since the summer of 2011?

Then again Ayre probably went to a casino and put our transfer budget on green.

Doubt it.

He probably went to a casino and monitored green, before ballsing up the negotiation with the croupier. By the time he got round to placing the budget on green, I imagine the casino would have long since shut.
