I doubt it was a toss up between the two, no no no it's worse, we signed Pennant instead of Alves because Parry didn't sanction the extra two mil Sevilla wanted.

I wasn't making an entirely serious point.

And thanks for that I'd just about forgotten that ming ever played for us.

So what ? Coleman was struggling to displace Hibbert for 3 years & couldn't even get a cap for Ireland for a while.

Just because he has had a good 4 months are we supposed to faint because Rafa decided not to sign him 5 years ago ?

Not sure what the context was but hope Aldo isn't being a dick there.

That's certainly not what I'm saying. I'm saying he wouldn't have got a game here, which he wouldn't. He could hardly get a game for Everton and they're shite.

It's not about him, it's about us. We make Delphs, Huddlestones, Shelveys and Diames of this world look like world-beaters, I can see us facing Bolton in some cup and making good ol' Jay Spearing look like Mascherano.

fair point, but I'm not basing it on this one game. He's looked decent in every game I've seen of theirs.

What would happen if they did something like make Barry's move permanent this window, would they be able to make another loan?

yeah Stoke had Assaidi from us and Ireland from Villa and have now signed Ireland permanently to allow them to get Guidetti on loan from City

Not true, Benitez said enough was enough as Seville kept putting price up, as they did with Chelsea following summer.

I'm not sure he needed his backside kicking, he just needed to be played in a position that suited him & to see his manager showing confidence in him.

It would probably have been one of our poorest transfers deals ever, even with a good deal of nominations in the category.

A quality DM is a must.  Need another couple as well.  We simply have to go all out for a top 4 finish. If we finish outside I fear what will happen in the summer and it'll be a monumental setback.  To 4 is no longer about CL footy and the extra revenue, its also about keeping the best player in the league at the club too.

How we spend our money has been our biggest downfall for years. We waste more money trying to find a bargain than we would if we just bought a good player and accepted his price as what is needed to improve the side. Its not just about buying and selling its what they do Inbetween on that field with the goals either end. Improving the first 11 should be the aim of everyone at the club it should be the only aim, so next time the cheque book opens make sure its for a player you know is going to be an improvement on his counterpart or don't bother. We dont need the mind set we need competition for a certain position the competition should come from the person who is being replaced.

Just...... Just sign some fucking good footballers and to hell with squad fodder,

Its no coincidence professional gamblers mostly bet on short odds not long odds, we buy like someone having an interest bet.
