Caught by tv cameras late in the second half. Mamadou Sakho was impressive once again fo PSG. Big, strong, brave, quick - but still a little bit raw. I really like him though and he was up against a couple of big forwards tonight and handled it all very, very well. Obviously depending on the price etc but I really like the kid. I imagine so does Wenger. EDIT: No, that pun definitely was not intended. PSG won 1-0 against Lyon btw.

He always kisses his right ring finger which is where he wears a gold band. However, what's the significance of the ring? He's married, but doesn't wear a ring on his left hand. Is it a Dutch thing to wear your wedding ring on the right hand or is the ring something else - his dad's maybe? Anyone got any idea?

Good article this Celsea, Liverpool, Francis AFC ... - Soccer, Sport - Independent.ie By Daniel McDonnell Monday April 18 2011 David Speedie knows he is the answer to the quiz question waiting to be asked. Name the ex-Chelsea and Liverpool international footballer who went from the Premier League to Dublin's United Churches League. Quite the journey alright, but then a man who lined out for 11 clubs in his professional career knows a thing or two about fate taking somebody in a surprising direction. Meeting an Irish woman named Margaret Thompson at Chester Races five years ago was the beginning of another fresh start. The 51-year-old has passed thr…

Yes, 2001. And it makes for hilarious/depressing reading, depending on your state of mind. We had so many of the top ones, but ultimately... :wallbutt: 1. Djibril Cisse (STR, Auxerre) 2. And that could rise to 16 points if we beat Arsenal today, thats quite brilliant in such a shitty season. However and far more concerning is we have dropped 16 points to the bottom 4 teams this season which is a complete fucking disgrace and really sums up our season Now if that doesnt put things into perspective I dont know what does.

Was wondering what everyone's favourite strikes were. Not just LFC ones, but all non-liverpool goals are allowed as well. Might as well start a match thread for this. I don't think Arsenal will be able to cope with Carroll. They seem to really struggle with team who go direct, such as Stoke or Bolton. They also always used to struggle with Crouch when he was here. Obviously the hatrick springs to mind, but I remember when we went away with Crouch as the lone striker (I think Plessis was in midfield) and he won us the game as they couldn't cope with him. I think Carroll will be too much for them and that is without considering Suarez bombing around him like the firecracker that he is. Assuming we have no injuries from Monday night and Kelly, Agger and Johnson aren't available yet,…

Players Who Adapted Their Games?
by Guest LFD- 18 replies

Just watching some LFCTV, as I usually do! and it is easy to remember Barnes in his pomp skinning defenders for fun. However he was also brilliant towards the end of his time with us, when his pace had gone - and he adapted his game to be a brilliant centre midfielder. His passing was always good, but he also showed more composure on ball (granted he did this as a winegr as well) and at times some of his little flicks and tricks were immense. Just trying to think of other players who adapted their games toward the end of their careers? Giggs is one of them, as he showed against Chelsea last week that he can play in centre midfield or behind a lone striker and h…

Only a daft stat, but a couple of surprises in here: The fastest, slowest, fittest players at every Premier League club | Mail Online Carroll our fastest player? I was surprised by that but I guess his size makes his pace very deceptive. He's at roughly the same speed as some of the league's proper speed merchants according to this though. Meireles and not Dirk runs the most (and not just for us, but in the entire division) and we put in a bigger shift as a team than everyone bar Fulham and The Mancs.

Just watching the Academy Goal Rush (fucking great, by the way) before the U18s match against The Mancs and I realised that LFC TV employs both my favourite and least favourite commentators on telly. Steve Hunter is ace: very knowledgeable, cliche and hyperbole free and very perceptive. John Bradley, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. He does my fucking head in. Annoying cliche-ridden shite with an even more annoying voice.

I sometimes go to the casino and have a bet. But I can't stand people who sit next to me and tell me what I should be doing. It is my money, if I want to take a card when playing blackjack, I'll take a card! If I want to stick on 13, I'll stick on 13! It is my choice. People moan at me for not "taking one for the table" and getting a card if your on the end - which I think is a load of bollocks! That's the one good thing about online gambling, you don't have to listen to people telling you what you should be doing, in their opinion. Although having seen the news that Pokerstars and Fulltilt being sued for 3 billion maybe I'll have to go to the casino and…

Can anyone remember or does anyone think we've had a better penalty taker than Dirk ? I'm not even sure Dirk is our official spot kick man. I know Murphy and Gerrard have taken a few in their time but the last official penalty taker I can remember is Phil Neal. Had Gerrard been on the pitch today, would Dirk have taken the kick ? Has Dirk ever taken a peno when the pressure hasn't been on ? I'm struggling to think of one but admit my memory is probably being clouded because I love the Ox. He stepped up to the plate again today and did us proud. Sadly though, it's inevitable he'll miss a pen one day and will be slaughtered for it.

I know there has been a request to not talk about the man, but i was genuinely touched today by his presence. This isn't a man who is part of the set up or even a local lad, but he paid his respects and you could clearly see how much he cares through his tears. Shown what a great man he is and made me proud to say he'd managed us. Not going to go into the politics of his spell in charge, just thought he deserved acknowledgement for the immense respect he continues to show towards us all and the families of Hillsborough

I was thinking to myself at the game last night, how would footie chants work out if we football fans as a breed were completley honest, without tribal rivalries or rose tinted spectacles. I'm not thinking "We're by far the 5th greatest team, this year's premier league has seen" sort of thing, but a couple that sprang to mind during my long drive home last night... Oh Manchester, is really nice, Oh Manchester is really nice Its got nice bars, museums and great curry Oh Manchester is really nice. Also, Tevez: Boooooooooo would actually be; Tevez: Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap

Am I right in thinking that if either UTD or City win the FA cup, and qualify for CL football in the league, the European qualifying place does not go to the runner up but the next highest in the league?

About time, if it happens; the man is a living legend for three reasons: he was our greatest player, the creator of our greatest team and the club's moral compass who led us through our darkest days. Is right, he should be knighted - and that's before you even consider his work supporting Marina's charity. Hillsborough families request knighthood for Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish - Telegraph Hillsborough families request knighthood for Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish The families of the 96 Liverpool supporters who died in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster want a knighthood for Kenny Dalglish, the club’s manager both then and now. 22 years now. 22 years! I can't begin to imagine how it must feel to have lived that long with such a huge injustice hanging over your life as it has done for those families. Could this finally be the year when the real truth is revealed? I sincerely hope so. Justice for the 96.

I thought I ought to mention my enjoyable wednesday night in London town. Specifically the hour i spent i a hotel bar with a selection of Real Madrid fans. I was utterly steaming, which prompted me to tell a young man with a real scarf around his neck, whilst in the gents of a random pub, just how much i miss Xabi Alonso. I congratulated him on their successful evening and left. He barely understood me, but acknowledged my congratulations and I moved on. The bar shut some hour and a half later and my colleague and I moved on to the hotel bar. It turns out this hotel was fucking packed with spaniards, and although most had nothing to do with the football, the …
