can very easily see why we're after allen after what ive seen at the olympics. If Rodgers likes possession football than this lad seems an ideal fit, cant recall him giving away possession and he's like a terrier when not in possession. Hopefully we get a good price on him but cant at all agree with the negativity coming from tonights performance, the lad had an impressive game.

You've just described Jordan Henderson.

main difference being Allen actually looks comfortable in possession and looks for the forward ball were possible. Jordan hasn't as of yet really shown such qualities and looks to get rid as quickly as possible to the easiest possible option. Allen looks promising as far as im concerned

His passing is top class, too. I actually think he's fairly Xabi-esque in the way that he controls the midfield and the tempo of a game.

Don't know about that like mate haha Xabi is a truely unique player and we probably will never have a finer passer of the ball. Agree with you though he seems good at controlling the tempo, keeping possession and spotting the right pass at the right time

Yeah, he's obviously not as good as Alonso but I think his playing style is quite reminiscent of him. We've missed that calming influence in midfield.

Guest Numero Veinticinco

He has played a bit deeper for 'Team GB' than he did for Swansea. He'll be able to get on the ball and control the ball and the tempo of the game when playing alongside Lucas. Very good prospect, this lad.

McNulty saying spurs are interested but he's only going to one team, us, once negotiations are sorted and olympics finish

Did he say it'd go down to.... The Wire?

Don't see how people can say he's not worth the money. Arteta cost £10m and he's 30, fat frank cost £11m sooooo many years ago(with inflation over the years that would be valued as higher than £15m), carrick £18m and he's shit, anderson £18m etc. He's worth it because he would bring a lot to our team with him and lucas together. Henderson might actually learn some bottle from being around both of them, but not getting my hopes up on that one.

Cracking player, would love to have him here.

But not at the expense of not buying another attacker.

What would be the point in Allen winning the ball and passing to Downing or Cole?

If we get him, and we still go out and spend a good amount on some attackers, then I'm excited about him. If we get him and we don't expand the attacking options with pacy players, then we're going to draw a lot of games.

Played alot deeper for Great Britain than he does for Swansea so I could see him being used to cover Lucas while Lucas is getting back to full fitness.

I really like the way he wants the ball under pressure and moves it on straight away, he knows where he's passing it before he receives it
