We probably need to make some Covid-based excuse and skip the Ashes tour - we are in complete disarray with the batting line up now. Bring back Crawley and give Hameed a run, and see if Pope comes back ok after the injury. Maybe arrange the Ashes for a couple of years time, so Lifey can sell the Mondeo and get over there, and tell me how sexy Naga is in real life.

Great morning that for England  Root looks better than ever and it must be a while since they’ve gone through a session without losing a wicket 
Good 50 too by Bairstow ….Always liked him, scores quickly and a great player to watch when in form but always seems to be a player England discard when he has a bit of a bad run whereas the likes of Crawley, Burns  Sibley and others don’t do much yet continually keep being picked .

To be fair, Bairstow has played 76 tests, is 31 years old, and averages 34.

 

He's getting his chance now purely because we have two, three at a push with Burns, test standard batsmen, and one of them isn't playing.

I remember when we got rid of KP because Strauss and his pals couldn’t handle him.  He’d walk into this shambles.
