Quite conceivably. If he'd have come through a team with money, but isn't competitive at the top and the big clubs wanted him. He would cost a fair whack. You aren't going to find many better right backs for under 15m.

Barrett saying all our targets are pretty well known, but surely downing isn't the only winger we're targeting? I'm not a fan of his myself, but i could live with it if we were signing another wide man too.

 

Even if kenny sees players such as maxi, merieles, kuyt, henderson? playing out wide, i think we need more than just downing to provide width.

I think we need 2 wingers. Marveaux/Downing would disappoint me. Mata/Downing i would be happy with, very happy with!

 

I don't think KD will play Henderson out wide, i think he'll be centre mid or pushed up behind a front man.

 

Ive a bad gut feeling that this French guy who's always injured Marveaux, is going to sign on a free come July 1st.

 

Separately i love to see G Johnson pushed up into right mid and see how he fares. We've more than enough options at right back in Kelly and Flano.

We're going to reclaim pass and move, and as everyone can see from Barca, you don't need to prioritize centre halves to play that way when your midfield owns the ball. so I am well chuffed.

If we cant get Mata, we should look at Jovetic (Fiorentina) again. He is class. There are a lot of good players in clubs currently not in the CL.

I would also like us to pick up Pedro Leon from Real Madrid. He is probably leaving for a small fee.

I still can't believe how weak the Mancs midfield was last year. Got properly shown up by Barca obviously, but good enough for a poor prem last term.

 

You're right about the Gerrard/Suarez/Carroll triumvirate but I would still prefer some pace or trickery to complement them. If Suarez is injured or off colour, who will break down the teams that park buses?

You simply know this is bollocks because Alvaro Negredo is a Sevilla player so Real can now offer other teams players? I'm not saying it won't happen but this is clearly shite.

 

On the topic, I don't want Marveaux and Downing I'd rather stick to what we have now than to pay for those two. But if we got Mata and Downing (for a fair price - 20M for him that defintaley is not) that a whole another story. Or any other left sided player - Jovetic, Dzudzsak, Griezmann, A. Johnson,.. Sanchez and Hazard are out of our reach in my honest opinion, though I just signed Alexis Sacnhez in my L'pool FM game so that must mean something for sure. Oh and Gervinho is supposed to said that he's leaving Lille for England - Arsenal or Liverpool to be his possible options. Any chance of us snapping him up?

We need another creative player with pace though - someone like Mata would be awesome.

As much as I would love to see Gervinho in a red shirt, I would rather we spent that money on a top notch winger with pace and buy someone like Connor Wickham. With Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt and Wickham we will have good options upfront.
