Lance, the money we got for Bellamy went to someway to helping raise the cash for Torres. After Babel's first season and Bellamy's first season away from the club, it looked like we had done the right thing. As JohnnyH said: "Bellamy played 9 games and scored 4 goals (including 2 in the league cup) the season after he left us." Compared to Babel: "Babel made 49 appearances and scored 10 goals in his first season". As well as Babel being a lot younger and having more time to improve, it looked a masterstroke. Babel hasn't improved that much and comparing Babel and Bellamy now to the season after we sold Bellamy is just stupid.

I was happy with the funds from the Bellamy sale, and thought it was the right move, and it sure looked like it at the time.

But people saying Bellamy's sale was only to fund Torres is fucking lazy and untrue. We spent a lot of money that summer.

Not that he would have been happy to sit on the bench anyway, which is what would have been the situation.

He's shown that he can play in the wide forward positions at Manchester City. He could easily take the left wing position from Riera and Babel.

Part of the reason he had a massive fall out with at Newcastle, Shearer apart, was that he was asked to play on the flanks

His best positions are either as a striker, or in behind, so unless your suggesting he should play ahead of either Torres or Gerrard, we would have a player sulking on the bench.

So, we're going to ignore that he's currently playing in a wide position for Manchester City, happily?

I heard this on Radio 5Live - the interviewer was a Scottish girl interested only in what her script said. Berger's comments offered nothing that constructive and they weren't what she was after anyway.

She kept pressing Berger on whether he thought Benitez should be sacked...........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Didn't recognise her as having any knowledge about football per se.

A useless interview.

But still the clueless fall for it.

You know he's happy, he told you that?

Thought not

We'll see whether he's still there next season shall we?

His body language isn't that of someone who is unhappy.

The emboldened part is silly. He'll be replaced with someone who is younger, and has a higher profile.

Manchester City aren't going to stop spending, despite what they talk about, and we all know that.

Your a body language expert?

I did not know that

Although let's just assume that you are right on all counts, and City do replace him, one would assume (If that is the case) that he's no longer good enough for City?

If he isn't good enough to fill a spot on the wings for City, what makes you think he's good enough to do the same for us?

It's a financial thing. If you spend £38m on three players... Where does Bellamy's money fit in?

Somewhere into that £38m you have mentioned. We still used the money from his sale, I don't really know what the argument is now. So rather than say the Bellamy money went towards Torres, which you describe as lazy and untrue, we just say it went back in the kitty. Fantastic, another pointless argument.

Don't know how you can tell the difference between a Bellamy with head up to one with head down, frankly.

Craig Bellamy has not been fit at all for the past two season, this is his first period of being available for any length of time. So lets not ignore the two season after he left us eh!

Had we kept him, people lauding him now would have been demanding Rafa got rid, either at the end of 2008 or at the end of 2009, this is a player that underacheived for West Ham.

One of Crouch, Kuyt or Bellamy probably needed to go once Torres came, and because the stupid twat got his nine iron out, he placed himself squarely at the head of the que!

£38M-£~6M=£32M.

Exactly, it wouldn't be allocated to one particular purchase, unless someone has some financial documents showing otherwise.

All we can say is it went into the Kitty.

Actually, I am, to be honest. I have extensive knowledge of nonverbal communication and have applied it in several case studies, as well as help teach convention hosts 'simple interest' techniques in the past.

I don't think it's down to 'good enough' when it comes to City. They are trying to make City an attractive place for top class talent. Top players want to play with high profile players. Robinho wants to leave City, would he be leaving because he isn't good enough? No. He was promised other top players and CL football. (I assume)

Why the fuck are we dragging up Bellamy? He was poor for us. He got given enough chances but he wasn't good enough. Judging how he is or isn't doing elsewhere is pointless. He had his chance here.
