Always preferred Marco Negri, better goalscoring record for rangers as well.

Marco Negri was outstanding for 6 months, Henrik was outstanding for 7 years, if you think Negri was the better player, then you have no business being on a football forum.

4 spl titles

2 League Cups

2 scottish cups

European Golden Boot

All time greatest Swedish player

2 La Liga titles

1 Spanish super cup

1 Uefa Champions League

The last I heard of Negri, Derby decided not to sign him back in 2004 after trial.

Steve Bruce (or his scouts) did well to get in Palacios, Valencia and Zaki at Wigan in recent times. At least two of those would improve us, though Spurs were typically ripped off for Palacios.

Steve Bruce keeps getting the credit for signing Valencia but he signed for Wigan in 2006 - by Paul Jewell. I had thought Chris Hutchings signed him, but Valencia was there in 2006 according to wiki. He can't have had a good first season as he seemed to go unnoticed. Looking like great business now though.

Cesc Fabregas - hands down winner on a free from Barcelona

(utter freak like Messai, a true child prodigy, made the arsenal first team at 16, now only 21, and would shit on many midfielders today, was U-17 world cup and european championship, player of the tournament)

then

Peter Schmeichel - at 530,000 !! (probably best goaly in EPL history and at his peak best in the world)

Eric Cantona - 1.2m (took the Mancs from nearly won it, to won it. Every season he player a full season at the Mancs, the Mancs won the EPL. Fact.)

Ole Gunnar Solskjær for 1.5m - if only we had a player who would happily on the bench and then when called for, score. simple. Awesome finisher, his game to goal ratio is astonishing.

Viera - 3.5m (titantic - in the Gerrard, Keane, Viera trinity)

Bergkamp - 7.5m (most technically gifted player to play in english league, old and new, simply god-like one touch technique, even at 7.5m - see below for 1997-98 season)

Anelka - 500,000 (responsible for one of greatest EPL seasons, 1997-98 demolition of the Mancs and double - at the famous school in France, was the fastest runner ahead of Saha, Trezeguet and yes, Henry. Moody cunt though)

Vidic - 7m (not quite as good as Ugly Bird Rio who cost 27 MILLION, but the next best thing and certainly the best "defending" defender in EPL and probably world. 7m is a steal.

Henry - 10.5m (Dickhead but astonishing pace and finishing - Invincibles season, etc,

I was being a tad sarcastic, yes. I've never heard of half of those trophies though, Onze D'Or is definitely made up.

I would put youngsters in a separate category. Having someone on your books as a youngster who is clearly going to be a world-beater (or indeed poaching them from elsewhere - such as Wenger did with Fabregas and Anelka) is one thing.

Buying a seasoned pro and making him worth double, quadruple or even more - that is something else.

For us, Torres, even at £20M, falls into this category. He would be worth £50M of anyone's money (maybe much more given Man Citeh's largesse). I think Reina was a fantastic buy too.

Going back a bit, Sami Hyypia at £2.5M was great business and Cantona was a great buy for Man Utd at £1.2M from Leeds.

There have been loads of great buys. Vieira for £3.5M was fantastic, even Henry for £10.5M proved a bargain. Not so Wiltord at £13M though. Wenger is not untouched by mistakes.
