It's not a case of them not being able to play together, but they play such similar lone roles that they would impose on each others game.

That we're currently using loans from Barclays (no wonder their profts are so big!) to cover wages at the moment? This would a great player to sign but totally not what we need. Torres played well for Spain when Villa wasn't there last summer. We also have Gerrard and his partnership blossoming, we need wingers damn it!

This smells like a rumour going around after the Euros where Rafa had set up a deal for him at £25m and left it to Parry to conclude Parry tried to drive the price down to £20m Valencia wouldnt budge he went to the Euros and the deal was fucked then

 

The only way we could afford a player like him is if we have new owners who produce a player signing like this a a way of getting the fans onside

Valencia are in terrible debt and are supposed to be offloading Villa but the Spanish dailies say Barca have already had a bid unofficially accepted. I dont know if his style of play would suit the prem anyway and I dont see Rafa changing to 4-4-2 any time soon.

No thanks. He restricts Torres if you try and play one off the top man, and Rafa would do that, so depending on who is the out and out striker of the two, the other would be severely restricted.

Given Rafa's prospensity to spin everything in a positive way for himself, I'd be shocked if that was the case.

 

He'd have set up journalists with the story or alluded to it in press conferences himself.
