  1. The basis of any good never mind great footballing side is a strong centre midfield. In Joe Allen and Nuri Sahin we have players that are on another planet compared to those whose they are replacing. With better ball retention and a higher standard of passing, we should see improvements in terms of goals scored.
  2. Will everyone stop going on as if the Yanks are the reason why the players are playing shite? As has been said my many ex-pro's, mostly ones who have played for us, the players with the exception of probably Carra and Gerrard, most likely couldn't give two fucks whose in charge as long as they get their pay cheque at the end of each month. The problems with our performance lie much closer to the manager IMO. The Alonso saga was his fault. Gerrard seems absolutely gutted that Xabi is gone, and he's coming deeper and deeper all the time to receive the ball. The failure to buy a striker that could geniunely put Torres' place under threat will cost us in the long run. Yes he's brilliant, but he's become a moaning cunt recently, and you know what? He knows he can get away with it. We're hardly gonna drop him for Voronin or Ngog. Blame the Yanks for many things, but performances on the pitch? Nah, thats bollocks.
  3. Face it Code, you've made a twat of yourself this time. If he singlehandedly costs us 3 points, but wins us 6 to 9 with attacking ability, surely he's worth it? I thought you were all for releasing the shackles aswell? Johnson has given us a massive new dimension with his attacking play.
  4. Glen Johnson has been fucking excellent tonight. Playing great down that right hand side.
  5. If he had pace he'd be a world class winger. Technically he's fucking excellent. Hope he's back in the side with Benayoun on wednesday. Drop Gerrard back for Lucas, then decide whether to play Voronin behind Torres with Benayoun right, or play him behing Torres with Kuyt right.
  6. Elisha Scott on YNWA was the only one worth his salt. ATK, Shankslegend etc...know fuck all. It's unbelievable how the people at RAWK worship Shankslegend. Ive never seen him get anything right when it comes to incoming players. They claim he broke the Babel story, but Elisha Scott had hinted at it well before him. Gedo on RAWK usually provides good info.
  7. This is a fucking long shot alright, but does anyone else think Rieira has the qualities to play centre midfield? Maybe not for Liverpool, but technically i think he's VERY sound.
  8. I would sacrifice Mascherano or Alonso (can't believe i'm saying that) for the chance to fund a Villa deal. Who cares if we have only 1 defensive minded midfielder in the side. With Torres, Villa and Gerrard i reckon we could score as a team, 85-95 league goals.
  9. That's not what i said you twat. It just so happens that Alonso and Gerrard are a class above the rest of our forwards with the exception of Torres.
  10. Bollocks. We have one player who consistently plays the short pass and move game with Alonso and that is Gerrard. Everyone else is to happy to play the ball to Xabi and stand back hope he hits someone with the long ball.
  11. Code72, Iniesta, Xavi and Alonso in what order? IMO its; Xavi Iniesta Alonso The three best passers in the world.
  12. Fabregas is a terrific footballer with a brilliant footballing brain, well if you can't see that, then i dunno. Maybe football isn't for you.
  13. You see you can be born with all the best dribbling attributes in the world. The hardest shot, even the greatest step over, but you can NEVER acquire the advanced footballing brain. You can be the fastest runner in world football or the greatest slide tackler, but the footballer with the quickest brain will see the tackle coming and will have the ball away yards before your even close to the tackle. Guardiola had this, and he has installed this mentality into his players and just look at the rewards. Far too often, we take the likes of a Xavi, Iniesta, Alonso or a Fabregas for granted against the dribbler who beats his man and scores, yet does fuck all the rest of the game. These geniuses RUN the game from the first to the last minute.
  14. As Kaizer said, just HOW will we replace him? There isn't another midfielder in the world who could come in and do what Stevie has done over the past few years in particular. He wins us games on his own, because of his passion to win at a club he has loved for so long. I just can't see a big name foreigner coming in and doing a Gerrard Cup Final, etc... He's special and we should enjoy him whilst we have him.
  15. I personally would go for Obafemi Martins or John Carew. Think both would be happy enough to spend a considerable amount of time on the bench whilst fitting nicely into our system should Torres be injured.
  16. On this season's form, you've really got to go with Eto'o as the world's best striker. 20 league goals already is excellent, and to think them clowns wanted to get rid of him.
  17. Question for Kaizer. If buying Villa, was only possible in Rafa's mind, if we sold Alonso and bought Barry to accomodate a different formation, would you be happy with losing Alonso for Villa? Of course the ideal situation would be to have Alonso and Villa.
  18. Agree with Kaizer. Don't think i've ever seen a youngster, so widely regarded as a potential star, have his career trainwrecked as Rafa has done to Babel this season. He's said a million times he's a striker, yet it's almost always the left wing he plays on when he gets his ten minutes. Babel is a fantastic talent, and it's pretty clear he's done here. How dare he say he wants to play more football? Rafa is an awful man manager. Anyone with a bit of personality or character has been booted out, and thank fuck we managed to keep Alonso eh? Even if he did his best all summer to get rid of him for a far inferior player. Play Babel up top and he will get goals. Seering pace, a good shot and good finishing puts him second behind Torres IMO. Pity though, i'm sure we'll do our upmost all summer to get rid of him/
  19. At times today, their link up play was fantastic. Hope to see it continue to develop in the coming weeks.
  20. The fans are really letting Benitez know how much they want Alonso to stay. Haven't stopped chanting his name this half.
