The major difference is that Crouch was playing much better than Dirk currently is when he had that drought.

 

I'm not fan of either and believe all the strikers should be gone apart from torres as the rest aren't liverpool quality. But its true, when crouch was having his drought he still led the line very well. He was holding up play and bringing the midfield into the game. As soon as he got the ball the rest of the midfield used to push up as they knew he would hold it up until they arrived. Kuyt can't do that at all. Yeah he'll run his socks off and chase lost causes. But he has a poor first touch, couldn't score in a brothel and can't lead the line. He really is a waste of money and for the money we spent we should be expecting better.

Crouch has gone from fourth choice striker to second choice and he has hardly kicked a ball.
