Why the constant striving for old looking buildings, why, WHY!?

If it looks like that shitty, industrial, train station piece of shit then there was no point in getting it re-designed at all.

What the hell do you know about architecture eh?

The conservative nature of the general public. They feel more comfortable with what is familiar. Shame really, with a well designed modern building taking into account good urban design principles, they would probably find that a more appealling space to be in and use.

from New York Red on YNWA

"Strike that. No brick at all. The Kop is awesome. I'm clarifying what I can reveal.

It's like no stadium I've ever seen in my life. I don't know what to think."

He's being a big tease - the Figaro of the new stadium saga.

Glass Ankles?

Is that a referrence to our very own Mr Glass, Harry Kewell?

I like the inside and the retractable roof, something most modern European stadiums should have especially this country and its unpredicatable weather. The slidding glass at either end will get even more light in, another selling point to the fans.

As for the exterior, sorry but it reminds out of something from a Dickens novel. I'm half expecting Oliver twist to come popping out of somwhere!

Im expecting something like the Allianz or Valencias new one, but if its anything like that, i think i could get used to it, as it does look pretty unique.

Its also a Trillion times better than the New Reebok kack too.

Maybe with a couple of tweeks to make it more ''cathedral'' and less ''powerplant/train station'', but defo keep the name... The RiS THUNDERDOME has a certain ring to it, forget all that New Anfield/Shankley stadium nonsense!

I love the way him and Figaro string along that forum. They're less accurate that Duncan Oldham.

Figaro is hilarious. He blatantly buys the Spanish press of a morning, reads the gossip section and retells it on YNWA with added "yeah, it was his agent who told me while I was eating in a dead posh restaurant that none of you could afford to eat in".

I poured Ronaldhino's agent a glass of the finest Sancerre, he passed me a slice of Serrano ham and told me that Ronaldhino....

Our new stadium will look similar to this.

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?Category=SPORTS0305

New York Red who claims have inside source on the design says its like the Indianapolis Star's new Lucas Oil Stadium. Its built by the guys who have designed ours and it holds. Capacity is 63,000 - 75,000 (estimated, depending on configuration).

Check out the multimedia section on the right of that original link to see inside pics of the ground.

It looks nothing like that whatsoever. Brod's post about it looking like nothing he's seen before is spot on. It wasn't what I expected at all. I think I like it, especially the checkered seating on the Kop.

No-one will be able to accuse the Americans of giving us a bland bowl like the Reebok or Riverside though, that's for damn sure. The Kop is definitely the focal point of it all, it looks huge and if the design is done right so that the noise stays in then it will be pretty intimidating on European nights.

And before anyone asks, no I can't say how I've seen it and no I can't post any pictures!
