New Season - New "Rules"

Time wasting is a misnomer. It's the breaking up of play and disruption of attacking momentum that needs to be addressed and adding an extra 10 minutes at the end of the game won't stop it. Players need to be booked for it straight away and not in the 87th minute when the damage has already been done.

Sums these cunts up. There be less yellows because we'll let you kick shit out of each other. But if you speak to the ref the wrong way, we'll book you, so don't expect yellows to go down overall. So player safety seems less important than making the referees feel important.

And this adding time on. Sound..but how about sorting out the fucking time wasting in the first place. Because this will still be subjective unless we go to a system where the clock is stopped each time it goes out of play. So it'll still be a decision which gets decided by the colour of your shirt and the birth place of the referee.

Agree 110 percent with this. A lovely way to cover up incompetence of match officials. Start by carding the keeper, the 2nd time he wastes time for a goal kick, would be a good way to reduce added time.

I've said it before; IFAB have to twat around with the rules every year to justify their position.  They're scared that if they review the rules and decide that they're working fine, people will question what they get paid for.  So, every year, there's an incentive for them to fuck things up.

Get paid to create problems.

Get paid to find the solutions to those self-created problems.

Get paid to create problems with the self-created solutions.

Ad infinitum.

Get ready for the "letting physical challenges go" to mean open season for Salah to get kicked to fuck and when we rightly go mad our players to get booked.....

Meanwhile other top players will be reffed to a different standard and get penalties and free kicks for challenges on them that Salah will simply never get and we'll see the inconsistency and bias that the useless twats who officiate are so full of week in week out....

The clowns in the media and the pundits will of course be full of shit about it all and show as much inconsitency and bias as the useless officials, and to top it off clowns like Dermot Gallagher will be picking up a small fortune to defend his pals.

I wonder why.

Do you think Salah would be getting more calls in his favor if he was at another club?

And lose possession every time

Fuck me i have heard it all now.

Debating the new added time thing on sky sports news and the presenter who seemed clearly against it actually had the neck to mention amongst other 'issues' with it 'fans getting back from games'.....

Fuck me like sky et al have ever given a fuck about that with their scheduling of games - but now suddenly games could be 10 mins longer and it is an 'issue'. Fuck off.

More like the issue is their scheduling of their coverage being messed around a bit.

Cunts.

These wont last long, they never do. Law changes are the domain of FIFA and like most crackdowns proposed in English football they last until the big teams cry like babies and they are abandoned more quickly than they began. I still remember the crackdown on shirt pulling in the box, which lead to City losing at Stoke to two penalties against them. They complained and it all miraculously disappeared almost overnight. Pinch of salt.

It’s not good. It’s a fucking long enough day out as it is, without adding 20 minutes of extra playing time.

stop the time wasting instead.

I'd rather the time added on for the stuff that can't be stopped or isn't stopped than not.

They need to crack down on game sabotage, not just farting around adding time on. Newcastle won't give two shits about playing until midnight when they come to Anfield, as long as they get to stop play every 15 seconds with absolute impunity. We'd do all the running and they'd just break the game up like it's a training exercise. If the referees used the tools available to them - like booking players for time wasting in the first 20 minutes when they're already committing the offence of time wasting, and then had the balls to follow through with second yellows if it continues - and if they had the power to book captains for rotating time wasting, then you'd get most games completed with 5 minutes of time added on for subs, goals and injuries.

This is pure baldy manc PGMOL bullshit, designed to look tough and hard and sound spectacular, but actually not really confronting the issue so they won't have to actually make any big, tough decisions.

Unless it's us, probably.

What a pile of shite. They’re more concerned about protecting the ref’s position than improving the game.

There is also set to be a crackdown on managerial practices. “
Of all the seriously shit things wrong with footy at the moment, this isn’t in the top 20.

Focus on what is happening on the pitch rather than whether Mike Bassett is still watching the game from high in the director’s box. Blerts.

I agree with pretty much all that, except the directive is coming from a different baldy, colina. The SYP cunt has just decided to adopt it as it eliminates any criticism of his refs for not doing all the other stuff you mention. It's a complete abdication of responsibility in controlling football games.

I had talksport on the radio for about 20 minutes today in a long drive home and Mike Dean was on being chatted to.

he was asked about this time added on stuff and he said at tranmere this wee there was 110 minutes played total, and they conceded in 45+6 and 90+8 to draw the match, but that it was the right thing to do, because everyone used to do 30 seconds for a goal, 30 seconds for a sub, etc but it was 2.5 minutes stopped play between a goal and the restart because of the whole team celebrating and the average ball in play time in league 2 was something like 48 minutes last season.

well, how about you don’t let players celebrate for 2.5 minutes then fuckwit. That’s entirely within your control as a ref. Stop it.

he was also finally asked if the 6 second rule for keepers still existed or not, and he said it does but let’s hope we don’t see it enacted and it hasn’t been for years. Again, enforce the ducking rules and we don’t have to add on 20 fucking minutes to a game.
