Smokey, never done it for me the way that Otis did.

Agree with this

He was a great talent and a excellent writer but he's way down the list of Stax and Motown stars I want to listen to. Otis, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye all way ahead for me

Prince has written loads of great songs (for himself and others), has a handful of classic albums, is a highly skilled multi instrumentalist, can sing, dance, he even acted a little bit. He was a great live performer, a world famous personality. That's probably why he's so highly rated.

This contest has confused me because I didn't think it had anything to do with the writing side yet everybody else seems to think it does. I also get that Prince was considered a fantastic musician and multi instrumentalist but I just thought his songs were generally a bit 'meh' not bad but not great.

Well we all have different tastes - I don't like Metallica or Cream but people loved them on the bands tournaments.

Just off the top of my head Prince classics - Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret, Get Off, Cream, 1999, Kiss, Little Red Corvette, Sign of the Times, When doves cry, Let's go crazy, the Most beautiful girl in the world, Gold, I would die for you.

Most artists would give their left arm to write just a couple of them!

I don't like Metallica and was not a massive fan of Cream either.

Prince is going to win this whole thing. Nobody else even close, others may write better songs but he was also a superb guitar player, one of the very best and a fantastic performer. Saw him twice at the O2, best gigs I ever saw. Such a talent.

He isn't and nor should he.

She is now living as a recluse in a rented cottage deep in the Irish countryside, sending weird tweets. I think she has changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat. I think she has had mental health issues for years. Very sad story.

Yeah I read something about that, their were rumours she suffered from child abuse, all very sad.
