One brilliant effect of all this is knowing that none of the current cabinet are going to win any leadership campaign.  They are now viewed as pariahs .

At this rate the Conservatives will have little choice but to phone big Sam.

I'm loving how many of these cunts when resigning keep talking about preserving their integrity. Like they didn't know who Johnson was when they put him in place, then supported him through countless scandals for the past 3 years and watched as they or their colleagues plundered the public purse through the entire covid crisis. But all of a sudden they're worried about their integrity.

Starmer

really needs to focus on this.

There was 1 on r4 before saying he realises in the last few days he has shown no integrity.

Yes nothing gets past you does it?

That simpleton attorney general has announced she's running for the leadership even though she's still in his cabinet.

Her manifesto seems to consist of lower taxes, stop those people on boats and erm stop all that woke rubbish.

She could have a chance.

Will be interesting to see how the bigots her party have turned into an army these last few years respond to an asian going for the top job, seeing as there'll be about half a dozen in the mix at this rate. Some serious CPU processor breakdown methinks.

Looks like the fight has moved to trying to get him out immediately and not wait until September/October.

Listening to David Davies on today earlier, he was saying they'll have a new leader in a week, which suggests they don't intend to let it go to the party to choose and the decision will be made in Westminster.

The obvious thing from the very beginning was that Johnson's only hope of not being a terrible disaster in Number Ten was to preside over an unusually competent Cabinet. And the Cabinet - or rather the succession of Cabinets - he did 'preside' over turned out to be exceptionally incompetent. And yet these very people are now deluded enough to think that, by removing Johnson, they stand a chance of forming an effective and vote-winning Government. It is so astoundingly naive and solipsistic as to be laughable if it wasn't contributing so much harm to ordinary people.

A great problem is that so many people think politics is merely some kind of tribal game. That's why such a disgusting little shit as Dominic Cummings has been indulged by the Westminster establishment - he was, in the way that stupid people think they're being clever, the enemy of their enemy. But by indulging him, an unelected and unaccountable parasite, they have created their own unelected and unaccountable monsters to destroy them in the future. Absolute rank hypocrisy running through that place like a tapeworm. And to think that the Ramsay MacDonald of the century, the stunningly shallow Starmer, is now in a position of comparative strength. Pass the sick bag, Karl.
