I think people might be talking about two different things here - just in case people aren't aware, in a social media post over the weekend, Sterling brilliantly contrasted the different media coverage of a young white footballer (Foden) and a young black footballer (Adarabioyo) buying a home for their family.

The (black) journalist who wrote the Adarabioyo story, and who has affirmed that it had nothing to do with race, has disclosed that he has been on the end of racist abuse for writing it. How meta!

That journalist subbed their own headlines did they?  Because thats all I saw Sterling contrast (although I am just going off the BBC coverage of the story, so he may well have gone into more detail).

That racism is still alive and well is no surprise. The prevalence of mass media and social media might suggest that it is on the increase, but that may only be partly true. All these platforms have done is to give a voice to opinions that were always there. That said, there has definitely been an increase in nationalism, xenophobia and outright racism in recent years, as oiks up and down the country buy into the rhetoric spewed by the right-wing and borderline facsist scum in positions of power. Brexit is just one example.
