The ‘Buy Nabil Fekir’ Campaign

Yeah, a permanent switch to 4-2-3-1 would make the most sense.

Think Klopp figured out that to counter press in this league was better with 4-3-3 due to the way others set up. We’ve had tons of opportunities to play it but we rarely have, 4-3-3 is a lot more flexible and interchangeable. With our lack of midfield options we could have done it recently but haven’t. I can’t see him changing it completely next season.

There's no real place for Fekir in a 4-3-3. If he signs for the price quoted it's because there is a plan in place for him and the way to get the best out of him would be to play him as a #10 which would require a change.

Or he plays as the most attacking player in the 3 like Coutinho did and like Ox was doing, that’s the beauty of 4-3-3, it quickly becomes a 4-2-3-1 or even 4-1-4-1 when we’re attacking and can also quickly be turned into 5-4-1 when we get behind the ball. You don’t get as much flexibility out of most other systems.

Really doubt he has the stamina or the will to handle having consistent defensive duties like he would have as part of a 3 in midfield. Don't see it.

You never know, if he’s never been told to play that way you don’t know if capable or not. It’s easier to run around a lot when a) your winning football matches b ) when you do it as part of an actual plan and witness it come off c) your managers Jurgen Klopp and you are willing to run through brick walls for the guy.

From what I’ve seen of him he works pretty hard and is stronger than he looks, I think I read that his interception stats were quite high which is one of the main strengths in a pressing team that managers look for, you don’t need to tackle or track back if you can intercept the ball high up the field before it’s even reached the oppo.

That's fair. He basically has a free role at Lyon so maybe Klopp could give him more structure and turn him into a different player. Anything's possible.

But I think the more likely scenario is that he plays in front of Henderson and Keita and is given few defensive responsibilities.

He will have to bust his ass to stay in front of Keita.
