The ‘Buy Nabil Fekir’ Campaign

It’s an awkward one because you can just imagine what Klopp must have done to convince him to come here. He’s gone to Lyon and said he’s only coming here putting Lyon in an awkward spot etc for this (if there is a problem) to go tits up. He’s then got to go back to Lyon and play there or go to another club who was interested and say yeah okay I’ll come to you. Klopp will not want to put him in that situation. This has got the potential to get really serious behind the scenes if it becomes an argument between Klopp and the money men.

Think we will get him and it will be announced next year. We would be a bunch of dicks if we allowed it to get this far and then pulled out. It seems he successfully passed two medicals.

Still think it could be down to Aulas wanting to save face or him looking for an extra bit of money if fekir becomes the player we think he can.

I do not know about denial but bascombe says this

Liverpool are not even saying there is a problem but there is a problem according to bascombe.

Eh? That’s not the case. Liverpool ARE saying to journalists there’s a problem with the medical, but they won’t say what the problem is.

I'm not seeing that tbh. Not the Bascombe piece anyway.

"Instead of the anticipated arrival of a club statement confirming the latest transfer coup, enough concerns have materialised over the last 24 hours to ensure the signing has not gone ahead as planned.

Liverpool are offering no indication as to the nature of the problem.

Fekir sustained a serious injury to his right knee when playing for France three years ago. It is unclear at this stage if Liverpool’s caution is in any way related to this past injury problem."

That quite vague.

Latest words are saying it's about accounting year, not medical.

Nabil Fekir's Liverpool transfer on the rocks with move unlikely before World Cup 2018

Liverpool have run into problems with the deal for Nabil Fekir...and that has cast doubt on his £53m transfer being completed before the World Cup.

The club had agreed a five year contract with the France international, and were all set to unveil him as their marquee signing of the summer before he played against USA in his country's final World Cup warm up on Saturday.

But even though the player had agreed a five year contract, and the Reds had negotiated terms with his club Lyon over the fee, the deal hit a last minute hitch.

The player even underwent medical tests at France's Clairefontaine training base outside Paris on Friday morning, but a proposed signing ceremony was postponed.

Liverpool have so far have refused to comment on suggestions there were issues with the medical, amid reports they had requested a second opinion on certain issues.

But late last night, conflicting reports from France suggested the issue is in fact with Lyon – due to their accounting practices.

The club is a publicly listed company, and strict stock market rules suggest they are not allowed to announce transfers until the window officially opens this weekend.

Further, it is understood their tough-negotiating president Jean-Michel Aulas wants to delay any official transfer until the end of the month, when any profits from sales would go into NEXT season's accounts.

The French club already have a healthy balance sheet after the sale of Alexander Lacazette to Arsenal, and Aulas wants to delay a deal.

Lyon issued a pointed statement on their official website which indicated the deal was not yet completed. Aulas is notorious for his hard-bargaining in deals, and last minute switches in negotiating tactics.

There is no indication from either club the deal is dead, but sources in France have made clear that, as things currently stand, there is no prospect of an immediate announcement.

Fekir, along with the rest of the France squad, has been told by national team coach Didier Deschamps he will not now allow players to leave the camp to conduct transfer business.

Fekir is due to play at his home club stadium in Lyon on Saturday evening against the US, and France are due to fly out to Russia on Monday, where they will be based outside Moscow.

That leaves the very real prospect of any deal being delayed now until after the World Cup finals...which was always the stated aim of Lyon president Aulas.

Liverpool refused to comment on the situation, but it is understood they are not now anticipating any new signings in the immediate future unless the situation with Lyon changes.

Fekir was due to sign a £140,000 a week contract, and was seen as Jurgen Klopp's main creative signing of the summer, as the club look to fill a hole left by the departure of Philippe Coutinho last season.

Well, if that is true, thank fuck it isnt on our side that's caused it.

Sour grapes on Aulas part perhaps or just angry? I still think it will go through eventually given the fact he wants to come, we want him, he's done (allegedly) a photo shoot with us (maybe that's what pissed Aulas off? - it was a bit blatant to leak it and shows why the Fabinho transfer was how things should be done). Just the timing seems a bit odd when he's thought after everything has been agreed, "oh fuck, what about the accounting year!".

I be surprised if we pulled out now. We'd be cunts if we did based on a fucking accounting year. And he's fucking quality.

I really feel for Nabil though, if what is written is true he's going to go to a world cup with his head twatted. Nice one Aulas you cunt. Not so much for us, but for him. Being buzzing about a new start then deflated going into the WC.

I just hope the club have given him assurances that he's still coming here regardless whether it's announced today or next month.

Scar tissue problems probably. This makes those problems a recurring event often for elite sportspersons who twists and turns alot. Handballers in particular as their feet get caught often in the indoor venues. Talked to my wife about this, she works with this every day.  Scan pictures probably send for further evaluation.

If not that, then it's probably Aulas protecting his Hardman image.
