It was a very moving moment.

In fact, John Henry said Henderson's transfer moved him... to a bigger yacht.

It brought up bitter memories of the botched police operation during the Yorkshire Ripper Murders?

Apparently he's told the players in his leaving speach part of his motivation for going is he doesn't want to hold the club back. It's not the millions extra he'll earn, no, not at all. It's him looking after Liverpool's future by kindly fucking off.

How noble of him to declare this after actively holding the club back for the last two years. Fucking shithouse.

If he was only arsed about holding the club back, he would have accepted the shorter term deal that was offered to him 2 years ago, instead of fighting tooth and nail to get a contract he knew the club didn't want to give him. Jordan Henderson is looking after Jordan Henderson. Which is alright by the way. Just fuck off with the hypocrisy that you're trying to do us a favour.

He lacks intelligence.

And the squeak he utters every time he impersonates Gerrard is cringy and lame.

As I said in another thread, we were not looking to sell Hendo or Fabinho until they came in and made them offers, causing those players to then say they wanted to leave.

So we either say "sorry, you're staying because we don't want to sell you and we don't want to accept Saudi money" or we make the best of the situation and get what we can. Keeping unhappy players is something Klopp would never do, so what choice was there?

I have absolutely zero problem with LFC accepting the transfer fees, if anything I have more of a problem with them not holding the Saudi's feet to the fire and demanding more money for Henderson.

There is no hard and fast rule here. You just have to take every individual situation and judge it on its own merits. I think what Henderson did was massively disappointing. I have no issue whatsoever with LFC accepting the transfer fee.

If we invite them in as partial investors, different story altogether.

Dave, it was a chance for Liverpool FC to take a stand and say "we would sell both of you to any other club except the anti-LGBT lot". An institution which is truly an ally of the LGBT community would have done so. It would have sent out a massive message.

We've kept unhappy players before and they went on to have good seasons - our beloved Suarez comes to mind. I'm sure Klopp could easily have backed the club if they took the decision not to sell to the Saudis.

Liverpool did have a choice. And the club should be facing similar outrage but so many are turning a blind eye to it. Making excuses for the club not turning down the "contaminated" money from over there is basically equivalent to the Geordies making excuses for Howe and their club not turning down Saudi money too.

Why would we want to hold ourselves to the same moral standards we hold others to? How would that benefit us?

CD's getting that framed for his wall.

Oh, and as Gordon Strachan once said, there are no morals in football.

Lovely views of the bases of trophies there....

Probably the most mental take I've seen on this issue. Player wants to move, chance for the club to get his mad contract off the books, a fair price for a player of his age offered. What a missed chance for Liverpool to set a precedent and single handedly undermine the Saudi League which would be dismantled within the week

Genuinely chuckled reading this. Talk about High Horse FC.

There was a reason a manager of ours who lived in a modest house in West Derby was so revered. Our current manager drives a nice car but foregoes the bling of numerous expensive sports cars and is admired for it by the fans. While players and managers have every right to earn top whack the people who fund their lifestyle at least deserve honesty. Shanks and Klopp appear to walk the walk yet still do well financially but are/were honest about their own motivations. Kevin Keegan was hated because he spoke of 'a new challenge' when leaving yet Ian Rush made no secret of moving to Italy for the money and was welcomed back with open arms a year or so later. Henderson has chosen the wrong fanbase to preach his brand of bullshit to.
