Blame squarely at the managers door for that debacle. Not knee jerkism but a reasonable assumption. Why take Phil off and THEN sterling? Fuck it,we've been waiting to see the 3 of them for ages and he does that! Insipid 2nd half and we really should've gone at the useless cunts. They offered nothing. Massively frustrating.

A manager who has some fans calling for his head and is under pressure is not going to drop a club icon when everyone in the press and a lot of fans are saying he has to play a certain game, if we had got this result without Gerarrd he would be getting heavy criticism.

You're basically saying the manager is scared of putting out the best team.  Therefore admitting he's a coward.

Any top manager would be putting out the team he feels is best suited to taking three points and sticking two fingers up to the press.

Tonight was a one off game/occasion though, Rodgers has shown he's not afraid to drop gerrard from earlier games this season, Rodgers knew there would be a reaction and it could be out of respect for Gerard as well.

If Lallana had been fit then we could have known for sure if that was the case as he should have replaced Gerard in that scenario, Sterling and Courinho were finding it hard to find space and were getting kicked around so I don't see those subs as bad as some are making out.

They have also been playing two games a week for a while now so when they are not performing and are getting hurt I can see the sense taking them off when we have a game coming on Tuesday which Gerard will probably be rested for.

Poor game.

You've got to presume Coutinho was injured, as Gerrard should've been hauled off before him. He did go down holding the back of his knee just before half time.

Sakho looked shaky, for the first time in a few games.

Allen is the master of 5 yard hospital balls along the floor.

Can and Ibe the standouts.

But, we were lacking in attack again, although Everton did defend well.

I still think Sturridge is a fair bit of match fitness too, and it showed today. He was coming deep, but no real runs in behind, and is still missing that burst of pace. Last 10-15 minutes, he was practically stood on the spot.

Disappointed with the draw as I thought they looked there for the taking in the first 10/15 mins of the second half.

Frustrating that.

Thought we looked tired and devoid of ideas.

A tame derby really, they were scared of us and set up to just contain us and not for the first time we didn't have the nous to break a side down set up to just contain us.

The lad Ibe did well being thrown into a game like that

Overall though we looked a bit flat, everything slow and in front of them.

We will need to be a lot better against Spurs...

On another note it must be really shite being a match going Evertonian, so many of them seemed to get pleasure from things like us being offside or a misplaced pass, more so than anything they actually did....contorted angry faces anytime our players went anywhere near them, it must be horrible hating us more than loving their own team, a fact I just pointed out to radio silence to a bitter giving it the big one about how they stopped Gerrard winning in his last derby - Proper small time stuff.

Further proof today, by the way, that Can is wasted in his current position...

He obviously hasn't been wasted as he has made a big contribution to our defence improving in recent weeks, as carra just said on Twitter when that is the case you can't move him now even though he clearly has what it takes to go on and be a top midfielder.

Steven Gerrard could have improved our defence over the years. That wouldn't have been a sufficient reason for playing him there.

And what happened to Brendan's £20 million leader of men?
