The war in Ukraine

Why won't they get a choice? We have organic crops in this country, we have conventional crops, we have GM crops. You can't insinuate that farmers will be forced to grow genetically enhanced produce when that demonstrably does not happen.

You have no concerns with multi-national corporations patenting and then pretty much owning major sources of food?

Your ideas that the food chain is full of choice and freedom for farmers is quaint, if not really very well rooted in reality.

You make it sound like GM crops means that people are banned from growing unenhanced crops.

I'm sure some evidence will be forthcoming to support your assertions.

Dan Carlin's "Common sense" podcast was very good on this a couple of weeks ago. If you don't know who he is then you should check out his Hardcore History podcasts and his Common Sense podcasts as both are very good - the history ones especially.

Basically he points out that if the boot was on the other foot there is absolutely no way that the US would tolerate what the Russians are being expected to tolerate. A nation on your border, politically aligned to you, is about to sign up for a trade deal with you so there is a coup to remove the government, with obvious fingerprints of other powerful nations, the new government is immediately bezzies with your enemies and then straight away signs up to trade deals in completely the opposite direction. Added to that you have Nato, who promised not to move militarization closer to Russian borders doing exactly that. if it were the same thing happening in Mexico or Canada the place would be fucking rubble now.

He also made the very interesting point about how people who cite Israel's history as a justification for them being very jumpy with regards to "everyone wants to invade us" very rarely extend the same justification to Russia, despite it being valid.

Substitute Eastern Ukraine for Kosovo and ask why NATO aren't bombing Kiev.

Good to see the unelected leader of Ukraine, installed in a coup, getting an hour to sound off in the US congress - so he can ask for military assistance.

We'll get to parliamentary elections at some point in the future, just get the trade deals sighed yeah?

Interesting that he mentions the Budapest memorandum:

Section 3:

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the CSCE Final Act, to refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind.

Well, here's the full text of the memorandum, perhaps you want to find the bit you're talking about:

When was the last time Russia was invaded? 1944?

Go ahead and list the countries and the years that they have since invaded.  It'll probably be long.

Edit: Not to mention, isn't Ukraine a member of the EU? That all but states that they wish to align with the western countries right there.

What were you saying about me being a low information dolt? Oh and don't worry, if they invade Georgia that's actually a country.

Putin fucked the joke E.U. in the ass. Rightly so,

obama, a black guy with a small penis, hasn't got a clue about foreign policy. Being mocked by the Turks, funding terrorists to bomb them afterwards, Ukraine, Northern Africa, Syria and Iraq all in ruins because of his policy. He could be an average B-movie actor and a horrendous porn star.
