Full time 5-3

Not perfect by any means, but you can't argue with five goals away from home.

Meanwhile Chelsea lost at Brighton, leaving us top of the league on goal difference.

We were definitely roughing them up I thought.  A few mins before the sending off there was trouble instigated by one of our lads leaving his knee in on their centre half as he went for a header.  He pushed him away and then there was a bit of a melee.  Then Clarkson tried to wipe the same lad out a few mins later.  It was a definite red and he was lucky one of their lads was stupid enough to get himself sent off.  They could definitely have come back in to it 11 v 10.

Millar looked a level above everyone.

Thought the first half performance by the 23s last night was superb - Best I can remember them playing in a while.

Absolutely dominated the first 45.

Half time - Liverpool 0 City 1

We've had most of the possession, but not really threatened.

City happy to play on the break and do look dangerous when they counter.

The only goal of the game was a little scruffy, and for me, there was just a little foul on Quansah that allowed the goalscorer, Sodje, to get the break of the ball before he finished from close range.

Welcome back, Dynamite !

aig is too quick for me these days...!

Been nice just watching the games of late with aig providing the in-game updates.

I'm on day shift today and have the iPad set up next to my desktop, so with the multi-screens in place, I can watch and update the thread today.

Liverpool 0 City 2

Far too casual from Koumetio, and Sodje sneaks in to rob the ball off him and finish from close range once more.

Liverpool 0 City 3

Sodje with another tap in. Easiest hattrick he'll ever score.

Quansah not strong enough in a challenge with the City number 11, Borges, who runs through one on one with Jakub before shifting the ball to his right to give Sodje an easy finish.

    • I have nothing much more to say except these are shit, i expect lots of rotation and a comfortable win. 5-0 Minamino hatrick, Jones & matip.
    • actually they don't have the technology to do it, but they're doing it anyway - which for me undermines the whole process more than anything.
    • Unbeknownst to me, it was actually. I've now claimed it.    https://podcasters.spotify.com/episode/7BPybhP3SeOkSBkHsmqJmY
    • Danny Murphy summed it up the other day when he said that VAR has taken away the one thing that has always been the most special aspect of football. Celebrating a goal. It's been ruined. Now you either celebrate and run the risk of it being cut short, or you half arse it and wait for them to tell you it's a goal, by which point the moment is gone.   It's just shit. I hate it. I've hated it since day one and if anything I hate it even more now. I hated it in the World Cup but the moment when I knew I could never accept it was when West Brom tonked us in the FA Cup and they couldn't celebrate two of their goals because they were worried they were going to be disallowed.   Even though it didn't affect us specifically, seeing what happened with West Brom's players and fans was enough for me. That could just as easily have been us or anyone else.   I'd rather go back to how it was with shit refs making mistakes on the field rather than shit refs fucking up even after watching a video. You can excuse the first, to a degree. Fucking up when you have access to all the replay angles you need is completely unacceptable.   And the level of precision they've had to bring in for offsides just because they have the technology to do it has made a mockery of it.   And then there's the scrutiny on whether a goalkeeper has strayed a cm off his line in trying to save a penalty. That's shit too.   It's fucking hard enough saving penalties and if a keeper gains the tiniest of advantages by stepping off his line a touch then good luck to him.   All these pricks in suits who've never played the game but are making all these shit rules are completely sucking the enjoyment out of it for everyone.
    • since he's been at the club, how many players has he bought that have improved the team? they had 2 very good season, 2 mediocre and this one appears to be drifting in the mediocre direction. and they've not made a dent in europe. considering how much he gets to spend, how much he gets paid, i think it is pretty fair to question his ability to do the job. who they would replace him with is anyones guess, but i don't think he's been tremendous for them, in fact i would say certainly below expectations when you consider the european record.
