Musical Opinion Amnesty Thread

I'm clearly the only person in the works not fussed by Bowie.

Know very few of his songs, don't particularly like and of the ones I know, and other than sympathy for another human being and his family, not arsed that he's died.

I am absolutely alone on that view based on my Facebook, the TV and the radio.

A few of us arent arsed about his music but recognise that Bowie,Lemmy et al are iconic musicians who will most likely never be replaced.

It has to be said that Bowie and Lemmy's excesses with drugs and heavy tobacco use cant have helped.

With Bowie, some performers go beyond music and are icons. Even if you don't personally like their music. I don't know what it is, style, originality, there's only a few. Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassy, they sort of transcend music and ordinary levels of fame, they're a part of our culture.

I get that, but he hasn't impacted on me, so I'm out.

I should add, I'm too young to have heard him when he was at his height - ie not alive - and when I was 8-10 when I suppose he was stil pretty big, I was listening to bros and the new kids on the block

Good job this is an amnesty thread, I guess

I'm in my late 30's, so I wasn't around in the 70's and was just a kid in the 80's, but Bowie has been 'big' for the duration of my life.

All British attempts at rap are highly embarassing.

Stereo Mc's are brilliant, were great live and very underrated - Connected is a superb tune and their first LP 33-45-78 is a big favourite of mine.

Hijack were great. As were the Demon Boyz, Gunshot and some early Blade. I Remember 'Mind of an Ordinary citizen' beating all the yank competition as poll winning tune on Jeff Young Big Beat show.....Yo' sucker put your brain in gear- Friday night- Back in the day
