Sky Sports News are the ones who reported the fee has been agreed. They are saying £11-12m.

Hopefully he turns out to be really top keeper. If that's the case at his age we could be looking at 6-8 years in the first team for that kind of money is fuck all compared to what we've spunked in other positions.

Simon Mignolet: Liverpool set to sign Sunderland keeper

Liverpool are set to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet for £9m next week.

 

The Belgium international is expected on Merseyside in the next few days to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of the move.

 

The 24-year-old has played 101 games since joining from Belgian club Sint-Truiden for £2m in June 2010.

 

He kept 11 clean sheets in 40 appearances last season as the Black Cats narrowly avoided the drop.

 

Liverpool's current first-choice keeper Pepe Reina, 30, has been linked with a return to Spanish champions Barcelona, where he started his career.

 

The Reds have already agreed to sign 32-year-old Manchester City defender Kolo Toure on a free transfer and Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, 25, for £7m.

 

Sevilla midfielder Luis Alberto, 20, is close to joining the Reds, while manager Brendan Rodgers is also tracking highly-rated Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori, 20, and 24-year-old Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Good signing. Ideal if both him and reina stayed but unlikely.

More worried about the defence who will be in front of the keeper!

It'll probably be 11 million if all the sub clauses get triggered.

 

That price for a young keeper who has the potential to be our number 1 for 10 years + isnt a bad deal really.

 

....ofcourse if he crumbles under the pressure then thats different, but I have a feeling we've got ourselves a decent player here.

No idea if Reina is off to Barca as expected but he's definitely off. Mignolet somewhat obviously isn't signing to be sub keeper and Reina has been giving the glad eye to loads of different clubs for two seasons.
