  • Liverpool 1 Crystal Palace 1 (May 25 2025)

It wasn’t quite as special as the celebrations after Spurs but it was still one hell of a day. It could be that the football itself dampened the mood a little, certainly for a spell in the middle of the game, but it always going to be hard to top that spontaneous outpouring of joy we had after Spurs. So this was just a little different, but still a day that will live long in the memory.   I’ll get the game out of the way first as there’s really not a great deal to say. We couldn’t have

  • Tsimikas: Mo should definitely win the Ballon d’Or this year

Kostas Tsimikas has little doubt that Mo Salah should claim the individual honour that has eluded him throughout his outstanding spell as a Liverpool player.   The Ballon d’Or award has honoured some of the greatest players since it began in 1956.   While the award itself still carries a deal of weight within the Footballing community,  in recent times it seems to have turned into a popularity contest or in some cases clubs reportedly using their power to influence voting.

Morton: It has been the toughest season for me but I have still developed

Tyler Morton has reflected on a personally difficult season but admits that it is all part of his development as a young player.   The defensive midfielder had promising loan spells with Championship clubs Blackburn and Hull in the previous two seasons and had hopes to push for a regular first team squad place this season.   However that was not to be the case under new manager Arne Slot who showed a clear preference to tried and tested players, while the emerging talent such

Alisson Becker to stay one or two more years, but eyes future return to Brazil

As he gears up for the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with Brazil, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has reaffirmed his focus at Anfield and hinted at plans beyond his current deal.   The 32‑year‑old legend, instrumental in Liverpool’s 2024-25 Premier League title triumph, remains fully committed to the Reds, despite new competition arriving between the sticks next season. Alisson’s long time back up Caoimhin Kelleher has moved on to pastures new at Brentford, but highly rated Ge

  • 2024/25 Season Report Card - Jarrell Quansah

A tough season for Quansah who, other than Harvey Elliott, is probably missing Jurgen Klopp more than anyone else in the squad. Last year was a breakout year for Quansah who ended the season in the team ahead of Konate. He actually started this season in the team ahead of Konate too, albeit only for 45 minutes.   He was subbed at half time against Ipswich and thrown to the wolves a little by Slot. It’s not that he said anything particularly damning, it’s just that after nine years of Kl

2024/25 Season Report Card - Ibrahima Konate

A very good season from the big fella, but not quite a great one. I keep waiting for Konate to really take that next step into that rarified centre back air occupied only by Van Dijk currently. He’s close, and at times he looks like he’s about to really make that leap. But then he doesn’t. Not quite.   Virgil never has a spell where he’s not quite at his best. Konate does. It’s not often, and it’s never for long, but while I think he’s brilliant 85% of the time, for him to take th

2024/25 Season Report Card - Kostas Tsimikas

A solid if unspectacular season from the popular Greek. I don’t remember too many poor performances from him until recently (there was one terrible one, it may have been a European game, my memory isn’t what it once was!) and generally he produced very similar performance levels throughout the season before finishing with a bit of a wobble (like virtually everyone else).   This year is probably the closest he’s been to actually mounting a challenge for the first choice spot, but that wa

2024/25 Season Report Card - Joe Gomez

Poor Joe. He can’t catch a break. He almost left last summer in search of regular football but decided to stay and fight for a place, but it ended up going the same way it has so often.   It feels like that’s a fight he’s never going to win, but because he’s so dependable in so many positions he will always make the match day squad and often end up on the pitch as we look to see games out. He was doing that to good effect this season, getting some games in his favoured position of centr

2024/25 Season Report Card - Andy Robertson

There's no escaping the fact that was a struggle at times for Robbo this season and there was a lot of chatter about whether Father Time had caught up with him. However, the longer the season went the better he got I think. It wasn’t vintage, far from it, but it was decent enough and he bounced back well from those early season wobbles.   In fact, he is one of the few players that was better in the second half of the season than the first, but then he needed to be as the first hal
