So No Suarez till August 27th, Ngog likely on his way, Kuyt now a fulltime midfielder leaves us with a strike force of Andy Carroll for first two games....

Any team serious about top 4 needs more than 2 strikers....

Ngog goes we'll buy another, and who said Suarez isn't back till 27th, I thought he'd be back for Arsenal

Kuyt is better as a forward, I think Kenny realises he can do a job there

The Wales Assistant Manager apparently :|

"After I tweeted it yesterday I received the message that Liverpool will give him a break of three weeks and when he returns back he will start his pre-season," Verheijen told Goal.com on Monday.

"They will train him gradually, so he will miss the start of the season. They expect him to be on the bench for the second game and then start the third game.

"If that is the case, it is a great development and a real breakthrough. It is also a big compliment to the planning of Kenny Dalglish and his coaching staff. They are not looking at the next game, they are looking at the 38 games.

After the way Kuyt and Suarez linked up in attack last season when Carroll was out injured I think he will spend more time as a striker than right midfield, their movement and link up play was excellent. If we sell Ngog we will buy another striker I think we will only buy more players as and when we sell the deadwood and make room on the wage bill.

I wouldnt trust anything goal.com say, they are shite.

Suarez is getting a week off and will return after 5th august, his daughters birthday i think.

He had 7 weeks off over xmas/january for ajax biting incident and 3 weeks before copa america so hes still quite fresh.

Imagine Kenny will watch him in training before deciding if he'll take part in sunderland game,i think he will myself.

back to 442. carroll and kuyt (until Suarez returns) up front, downing on the left, henderson on the right, adam and Gerrard (when fit) in centre for home games, Lucas for the aways and the big 6 games. Kuyt will get goals when he plays up front, carroll needs players around him to get his knock downs and lay offs, downing can cross all day from the left, adam or gerrard breaking forward, henderson is an unknown quantity but one thing he does have is an engine to get up and down the right, hopefully he can cross the ball as well.

I really haven't liked the look of us playing 4231 so far. carroll looks isolated, kuyt too slow for the right and henderson looks lost playing off the front man.

back to basics kenny - 442.

Ngoo is still probably ahead of Morgan and Eccleston could well still be ahead of both of them.

Eccleston won't anywhere near the first team. If Kenny thinks Morgan or Ngoo are ready he will give them a go, but I don't think we will need to. Suarez looks like he will be back, Carroll is fit and Dirk can play there. As others have said, we will probably bring someone else in as well if we sell N'Gog.
