My pet hate is "Can I get?" as in asking the bar man " can I get a pint of carling. "

Yes you can get one, it is a f@@king pub so ask me properly if you can have one and I will serve you!

Is it too hard to understand that to ask for something in english you simply say "Please may I have....."

To be fair, the bit that really upsets me aboot that sentence is the ordering of Carling, it's fucking hideous non-beer.

I've always pronounced it "bonny night".

You're from the wirral, right? This caused a massive argument on my team in work. 6 people all from Liverpool call it ' bommy night ' and the 2 people on the team from the Wirral all call it ' bonny night '. The 2 from the Wirral also call barms either baps or batches.

We all called it Bommy night and I was on the Wirral, family were from toxteth though so maybe that influenced it.

Firework night? No, it's Bommie Night.

And do you go into your local chippy and ask for a chip sandwich instead of a chip barm? Where do you live, Windsor? Wool!

You tell me how in the world you can get 'bommie' from 'bonfire' and I'll admit defeat!

Don't know. I'm just being tribal. Brick up the tunnel, etc... The only thing I could find on the net was this :

Bonfire night, see 'bonnie night'. Possibly spelt bombie night from the use of fireworks. [East Lancashire/Merseyside use]

I'll tell you what you definitely can't get from Bonfire night though. And that is firework night.
