I can. Especially now they've signed Sanchez.

Afellay would suit our league better than in Spain.

Guardiola seems to only use him as an impact sub, as he's not really on the same wave length as the rest when it comes to passing.

Surprises me they've got Sanchez, Rossi would suit them so much more.

They don't really need an alternative style, they just need more depth.

I'd take Afellay here.

Id take Afellay in a hearbeat a million miles better than all the other players we have been linked with Good and bad, better than Mata IMO

However unless he asks to leave cant see Barca selling.

Also be interested to see how Pedro and the other squad players taking the news especially with Rossi likely to join as well, thats 7 supermen for 6 positions but in reality its Villa and Pedro under pressure

If we were strong in every other position, then buying quality players for back-up would be nice. At the moment we need to improve many starting positions.

Ah ok, personally i'm of the opinion that we only need one pacy skilful wide player to slot into the strongest starting line up.

---Raul----Lucas---

------Gerrard------

Suarez----(new signing)

------Carroll------

If Kenny wants Downing for the left then we'll get Downing. If he wants to go for a more 'flair' player then he will. We have good options in the squad to rotate players (as the last few months has proven). Though i do think we need another explosive player to bring off the bench who can change a game.

For the defence it seems like Enrique is a cert so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I'm sure FSG are willing to spend the required money to strengthen our attack. Be that 30 million, 50 million or whatever i'm 100% certain that Kenny/Commoli has their full backing. Money shouldn't be something we get bogged down in, as long as we discuss realistic targets. Leave the businessmen deal with the money and let's just debate the players' merits.

Bojan and Jeffren will leave before Afellay, I would imagine.

Jeffren is apprently part of the deal for Sanchez ...heading in the other direction.

Even then Affellay will have two players ahead of him in the pecking order in his position.

I'm sure Barca would like to rotate more than they were able to this season. The problem for Affelay, and Masch too, is that with Barca's game you need to be so so technically precise all the time and have a real understanding of your team-mates. That takes time. So I'm sure they'll be giving Affelay at least another season to adapt.

He's lighting quick, can play on both wings, scored 10 goals for Wigan last season, can take a good set piece and he always tears us a new one.

Downing is quick, more suited to a pass and move style as he actually has a short game, better crosser, creates more, scored 8 last season, can take a good set piece and is far better than N'Zogbia.

So it is likely

Mata - 18 million

Enrique/LB - 7 million

Henderson - 14 million

Jones - 8 million

Wickham - 8 million

55 million spent and if we can recuperate about 20 million by selling our dead wood then it will be a decent summer for us.

---------Reina-------

Johnson Carra Skrtel LB

------Lucas Raul-----

Suarez Gerrard Mata

--------Carroll-------

Bench

Gulasci

Kelly

Jones

Agger

Henderson

Spearing/Shelvey

Wickham

Kuyt

Looking pretty good for the next season, I must say.

He will also cost £8-10 million more. 8 goals in a vastly superior Aston villa side is hardly a viable counter to Nzogia's 10 for shitty Wigan.

If Downing costs as much as people say he will I don't want either.

I cant understand why everyone is saying he will cost 20ml.There is no evidence that he would,Villa know that they either have to get rid this season or his value will go down from then on as his contract is running down. The lad has said he wants to leave if young goes so will push any move through.I cant see him going for 20ml.

Who do you think is the best of the two.

I like Dann, I think for the right price he could be a shrewd buy.

That said, I like Jones too, he can play which make me think he'd fit in better, he'd be like agger, the ball playing CB, add in to the fact he's only young, for your initial expensive out lay you could have a player for the next 10-12 years.

With JC coming to the end and agger always dead in theory Dann/Jones could work.

Soto will go and I think agger will too in all honesty so there's room for them both, just depends how much dough we have.

Jones is infinitely more talented than dann
